06:36:00zoomber3 changesets. aha
06:45:00zoomberhey raptor: are you on?
06:45:00raptorhi
06:46:00raptori am close to REALLY breaking the build on Mac OS X
06:47:00zoomberhow so?
06:47:00zoomberooh
06:47:00raptori've migrated bitfighter to the SDL framework
06:47:00zoomber1200 errors building bitfighterDedicated
06:47:00raptorhaha
06:47:00zoomberand counting
06:48:00zoomberhmmm
06:49:00zoomberlets see if this fixes it
06:49:00zoomberoh forgot search headers
06:50:00zoomberMIGHT need doose
06:50:00zoomberand the last header search path left is ../glut ... untouched?
06:52:00raptori don't know how far behind the dedicate target is... i have neglected it
06:53:00zoomberouch
06:53:00zoomberits crying to me
06:56:00zoombererr, the whole time im trying to fix paths and nothing is changing untill i realize im only fixing search paths for release, not also debug configuration
06:57:00raptoryeah, i try to keep it on the 'all configurations' option as much as possible
06:59:00zoomberok, NOW i think i have fixed it
06:59:00raptorsam686: have you ever had bitfighter compile and start like it was using another main() method from one of the link libraries?
06:59:00zoomberdammit!
06:59:00zoomberso close
07:00:00zoomberhey raptor, would I need the gemotry and simple line files with bit'd?
07:00:00raptorprobably
07:01:00raptordedicated server might be completely broken on all platforms as well
07:01:00zoomberwell im pretty close
07:02:00zoomberof course, then i have to hope it runs too
07:02:00zoomberok, sized down to 19 linking errors from 45
07:02:00zoomber9
07:03:00zoomberhaha, 2 linking errors
07:04:00zoombersuccess
07:04:00zoombertime to test it out
07:04:00zoomberoh
07:04:00zoomberi have a question for you
07:05:00zoomberwhat did you do to fix the gdb-debugger-loading?
07:05:00zoomberill try and fix that too
07:06:00raptori actually don't remember - I think I had to add a -DTNL_ENABLE_LOGGING flag that was missing in the Debug configuration
07:06:00zoomberright, for logging, but i mean, for the gdb debugger to load the executable properly, when testing from in xcode
07:07:00zoomberand, yes i think thats what watusimoto said as well
07:07:00zoomberoh wait
07:07:00zoomberonly reason its not loading is because a neglected app doesnt have the vorbis put in it
07:08:00zoomber: ]
07:09:00zoomberraptor: do you know where the/a compiled vorbis.framework woudl be found?
07:10:00raptorit is compiled on the fly as a target
07:10:00zoomberoh, maybe i should look in the xcode folder :p
07:10:00raptoryou probably need to add to the build dependencies
07:11:00zoomberhaha!
07:11:00zoomberthe accomplishment of doing painfull copy and pasting manually!
07:12:00zoomberalright
07:12:00zoomberwana go join my new 016 dedicated server?
07:12:00raptorok
07:12:00zoomberaww it already crashed
07:12:00zoomberhodl on leme relaunch
07:12:00zoomberok lets go
07:13:00zoombererr
07:13:00zoombersome of my levels may break the server
07:13:00zoomberlet me see if i can get a stock map in
07:14:00zoomberok now

14:57:00watusimotook, that's fine... just saw that in the forums. Did you add a release note in the main.cpp file?

15:16:00raptorwatusimoto: i ran into a really weird problem compiling on windows - and wondered if you've run across it before
15:16:00raptorI've been trying to get SDL working in windows
15:17:00raptorI finally got it all compiled and linked, but when I ran the executable 'bitfighter_d.exe'
15:17:00raptorit said I needed to provide command line arguments in order to parse a LUA script
15:17:00watusimoto???
15:18:00raptorit was like it was using the wrong main() method from all the linked together binaries
15:18:00watusimotonot seen that as described
15:18:00sam686did you delete winmain.cpp?
15:18:00BitfighterLogBot - Commit 0753851a27ea | Author: sam8641 | Log: Easier way to define Colors.h, no longer need Colors.cpp, add some main.cpp comments
15:19:00raptori left the vc++ project as-is since i started my SDL clone
15:19:00raptorjust added the missing classes and linker libs
15:19:00raptornothing else
15:20:00raptoroh actually, i did have to turn of /WX switch - which was treating all warnings as errors
15:20:00sam686are you trying to start bitfighter, or are you trying to start master?
15:20:00raptorstart bitfighter
15:20:00raptorlet me see if i can get a screen shot...
15:20:00raptor(needs a few minutes to start up)
15:20:00sam686maybe you can put a breakpoint at the first line inside "main"?
15:20:00sam686see if main runs there..
15:26:00raptori'm not familiar with how do to break points in windows, but i'm willing to learn...
15:27:00sam686right click and choose "Breakpoint" or click at the left of text gray area..
15:28:00raptorhttp://96.2.123.136/upload/1snapshot35.png
15:28:00raptorso weird
15:28:00raptorthat is a screenshot of what is happening
15:29:00watusimotowierd
15:29:00sam686what are you compiling with?
15:29:00raptorvc++ 2010
15:30:00raptorwatusimoto: did you turn on /WX flag recently?
15:30:00watusimotono
15:30:00raptorit's the one that treats all warnings as errors
15:30:00raptorit was on in the project
15:31:00sam686somehow it is getting to lua/lua-vec/src/luac.c line 55 from searching "[optons]" and exits.
15:32:00raptoryes
15:32:00raptorlike it is making the main entry point for the application go to lua
15:33:00sam686try putting a breakpoint in there and run, when it hits a breakpoint, look at call stack..
15:33:00raptori jsut saw winmain.cpp
15:33:00raptorwhat does it do?
15:33:00sam686not sure, but probably converts that main to actual main..
15:36:00raptorwell i ran witha break point
15:37:00raptorit ended up somewhere in UIEditor.cpp
15:37:00raptorwith an access violation
15:43:00raptori'm going back to the SDL setup for windows tutorials..
15:45:00raptorhuh - the vc++ subsystem is set to 'console'
15:45:00raptorwhat is it supposed to be?
15:45:00raptorit's under the linker options: linker -> system
15:45:00watusimotowhat are the other options?
15:46:00sam686its only console to allow seeing the output, in release mode it is not console..
15:46:00raptorthere's lots, but the mostly likely alternatives are 'WINDOWS' and 'NATIVE'
15:46:00raptorit's set to 'CONSOLE'
15:46:00watusimotoconsole
15:46:00watusimotomine is too
15:46:00watusimotoit's ok
15:46:00raptori'm going to change it and see what happens...
15:48:00raptoralso turning off 'minimal build detection' allows multi-process building

15:52:00raptornothing is drawn though... but I get sound!
15:55:00raptori see graphics!!!
15:55:00sam686looks like you can run without the virtual machine crashing?
15:55:00raptoryeah - i think before i hadn't install the VM tools
16:16:00raptorok windows + SDL pushed to my clone...
16:16:00raptorgetting close to merging
16:18:00raptorbut the merge is going to be messy
16:19:00raptorso I would like anyone else's changes in first
16:26:00watusimotomy stuff is all checked in
16:28:00sam686I mostly working on my clone for now mainly my own editor, i don't have much to check in..

16:29:00raptorif i merge now, you'll have to live with two things - mouse movement not working in the menus, mouse not showing up in the editor
16:29:00raptoruntil one of us fixes those
16:29:00raptor(probably me)
16:30:00sam686Mouse not showing up in editor? can easily draw in any custom cursor such as like in-game.
16:30:00raptoryeah - it's missing the cursor :)

19:19:00sam686curse what name?
19:19:00raptorany one :0
19:19:00raptor:)
19:20:00raptorsam686: for setting up your vc++ 2008 project, you have to do the following:
19:21:00raptor1. add in OpenglUtils.cpp, OpenglUtils.h, freeglut_strock.h, freeglut_stroke_roman.h
19:22:00raptor2. link against ../lib/SDL.lib and ../lib/SDLmain.lib
19:27:00sam686ok, but it is taking a long time to c o m p i l e . . .
19:28:00raptora full recompile would be needed
19:33:00sam686my pictureloader.cpp is now broken because of the use of GLuint... but i guess we are not using pictureloader.cpp...
19:41:00sam686i am getting lots of linker errors about missing __imp__glColor3f@12 and similar...
19:44:00raptoroh
19:44:00raptoryou need to link against opengl32.lib and glu32.lib
19:44:00raptorno path information
19:45:00raptorit is part of the standard SDK
19:45:00sam686i only added opengl32.lib, and no errors.. i don'e need path, looks like my system computer have it already.
19:46:00sam686looks like i don't need glu.lib..
19:46:00raptoroh good
19:47:00sam686missing SDL.dll....
19:47:00sam686found it in /lib/
19:48:00raptoryes
19:48:00raptoroh and when you start up, press ALT + ENTER
19:48:00raptormaybe twice or three times...
19:49:00raptorbecause the default is full screen
19:49:00raptorand it doesn't quite work in full screen yet...

19:59:00sam686as with why it didn't work with "Console" mode was because of there is a "main" in lua-vec, removing main (or commenting out) in lua-vec fix the problem.

20:16:00raptorsam686: to fix the console mode problem
20:16:00raptorchange the subsystem to WINDOWS
20:16:00raptorforgot about that part, too
20:17:00sam686i already fixed it by removing a secind 'main', and a console window helps see what it outputs instead of having to read log files..
20:17:00raptorah ok
20:17:00sam686and it is consode for debug mode only, it is windows for release mode.
20:17:00raptorfor some reason it was console for both in the 2010 project
20:18:00karamazovapy_ is now known as karamazovapy

20:19:00karamazovapyany idea why I keep disconnecting?
20:20:00sam686your internet now very good today?
20:21:00sam686or your computer being slow?
20:21:00karamazovapyI keep disconnecting from this irc channel
20:21:00karamazovapynot from other channels I'm in, just this one
20:21:00karamazovapy* Disconnected (Connection reset by peer).
20:22:00sam686i see this: karamazovapy quit (Ping timeout: 255 seconds) that looks like you lagged out?
20:45:00karamazovapyah...could just be my high upload rate
20:55:00raptorwhat happens is that freenode will ping your client every few minutes, and if your client doesn't respond in time (and after a few tries) you get disconnected
20:56:00raptorclients sometimes don't respond in time when there's lots of network traffic
20:59:00watusimoto has joined
21:12:00karamazovapyyeah, I'm uploading bittorrent traffic at my max speed, so it's probably just a terrible ping
21:19:00karamazovapyafter all that work, KaKiLa wants us to scrap bitfighter's current physics and make the game more like x-pilot
21:19:00raptorhaha
21:19:00raptorthat's called 'writing a different game'
21:19:00karamazovapyquote:
21:19:00karamazovapyHi,

21:21:00raptorof course it's possible
21:21:00karamazovapywell slipzones are pretty much a limited execution of that idea, right?
21:22:00karamazovapyyou can put a slipzone under your entire level if you want
21:22:00karamazovapyif/when they get rolled out
21:25:00raptorthat's actually an easy hack
21:25:00raptorit's what watusimoto did for armor
