00:00:00sam686it is not very common to have most users compile open source programs themself on windows and mac, linux is the most common thing to compile yourself
00:00:00raptoryes, which is why we packagers try and do it for you
00:01:00raptorfor each distro, that is..
00:01:00WatusimotoI'm less concerned about windows and mac
00:01:00Watusimotowell, it's something to think about
00:02:00raptorcmake could also be used on windows/mac with raw gcc (through mingw on windows)
00:02:00WatusimotoI think the windows build system is ok for now
00:03:00raptormac is on the same grounds: we provide the libraries
00:03:00WatusimotoI haven't found a better gui than vc++
00:03:00Watusimotonot even sure why we need getline
00:03:00Watusimotowe don't use it, at least not directly
00:03:00raptorlua uses it for parsing
00:03:00raptorreadline
00:03:00Watusimotoah, that's it
00:03:00Watusimotofor parsing cmd line input, right?
00:04:00Watusimotoor do you think it's for parsing scripts?
00:04:00Watusimotowell no matter... I suppose we need it
00:05:00raptorif we were smart, we could have used it in bitfighter for all the crazy command-completion and bash-like shell behavior
00:06:00Watusimotothat would be very cool
00:07:00WatusimotoI'm about to check in something that I really like, even though it was only one or two lines of code
00:07:00raptorok
00:07:00WatusimotoI created a log listener that dumps log output to the oglconsole
00:08:00Watusimotoso it can get logprintf messages
00:08:00Watusimotowe just set some filters in main.cpp, and the messages just show up
00:08:00zoomber_mbpsam686
00:09:00zoomber_mbp Quit (Quit: zoomber_mbp)
00:09:00Watusimotoso we don;t need to log with logprintf and send the msg to the console explicitly
00:10:00Watusimotobtw, I am starting to really like the new tortoise interface; much easier to merge
00:10:00raptoroh good
00:10:00raptorand thanks again!
00:11:00raptorbecause...
00:11:00raptorright now, we compile like 3 or 4 extra libraries on mac everytime (openal-soft, libpng, libogg...)
00:11:00raptorbecause I couldn't check in the .frameworks (equivalent to .dll)
00:11:00raptorbecuase they use soft-links
00:12:00Watusimotoso we all win
00:12:00raptornow, i can clean up some of the sources and just add the libs again
00:12:00Watusimotowhat't the fun in that?
00:12:00Watusimotowe need winners and losers
00:12:00raptorhaha
00:13:00BFLogBot - Commit 10763bec4cf6 | Author: watusim...@bitfighter.org | Log: Create OGL log consumer, so we can send output to console with just a logprintf statement! Clever!
00:13:00BFLogBot - Commit 72d982310385 | Author: watusim...@bitfighter.org | Log: Adjust which events console gets
00:13:00BFLogBot - Commit 5c75392d9e1e | Author: watusim...@bitfighter.org | Log: Added a console-only level of logging -- do we really want this?
00:13:00BFLogBot - Commit 9a848fe553c0 | Author: watusim...@bitfighter.org | Log: Plugins not fully working, but at least menu display is functional

00:43:00Watusimotoindeed. don't know why I didn't think of it earler...
00:47:00Watusimotofirst plugin is working!
00:47:00Watusimotoand checked in!
00:47:00raptorhooray!
00:47:00Watusimotostill doesn't feel quite right, but we'll revisit it in the coming days, and again for 016a
00:47:00Watusimotoany suggestions welcome.

00:48:00BFLogBot - Commit 2caaefdc5dd9 | Author: watusim...@bitfighter.org | Log: First working! (mostly) plugin. Need to put plugin_arc.lua into your levels folder; will create a plugins folder soon. Still pretty fragile, but this demonstrates the idea. I think we need a way to get a point from the user -- perhaps pass a point to the script based on where the cursor is when you run the plugin? Not sure... but it doesn't need to be perfect.

00:48:00Watusimotowhoa... that list is getting shorter
00:49:00zoomber_mbphey watusimoto
00:49:00Watusimotoyes
00:50:00Watusimotojust deleted one more item from the list, and yet another is closer to completion
00:50:00WatusimotoI'm heading for bed
00:50:00raptornight
00:50:00Watusimotozoomber... ask away
00:50:00Watusimotobtw, who added this?
00:50:00WatusimotoReview stock included maps
00:50:00raptorme
00:51:00Watusimotowhat is your thoughts on that?
00:51:00raptori came across a rabbit map with score 10
00:51:00Watusimotozoomber_mbp... getting sleepy
00:51:00raptorand thought that was waaaaay low, since killing someone gives you 5 points
00:51:00zoomber_mbpoh, i didn't have a question haha
00:52:00zoomber_mbpjust saying hi
00:52:00raptorso I was thinking we should go through each map and adjust/remove them
00:52:00zoomber_mbpoh, expect to see your european sever up soon!
00:52:00WatusimotoOn numerous occasions I've asked for nominations for a new stock map set, and never gotten a good response
00:52:00raptorif needed
00:52:00zoomber_mbpok
00:52:00Watusimotoso yes, I'm all for it
00:52:00zoomber_mbpi got a good one
00:52:00raptorok
00:52:00raptorlow prio
00:52:00WatusimotoI think the stock maps should be smaller
00:52:00zoomber_mbpgamepad
00:52:00zoomber_mbpi don know who made it, but its a nice map
00:52:00Watusimotoand classics can just live on a server or be an alt. map pack
00:52:00Watusimotook
00:52:00Watusimotowell
00:52:00Watusimotogood night
00:53:00raptornight

00:53:00sam686but i didn't have time to set everything up, default levels, default name "bitfighter host"
00:53:00Watusimotoit's great until about turn 30
00:53:00raptorit's like chess for 4x style games
00:53:00Watusimotoand then it becuomes a sucky slog
00:53:00zoomber_mbpsam686

00:54:00Watusimototoo bad the successor game collapsed
00:54:00sam686what, zap?
00:54:00Watusimotomaybe when bitfighter is finished we should create stars the way it should have been
00:54:00Watusimotono, supernova
00:55:00Watusimotosuccessor to stars
00:55:00raptorha!
00:55:00raptorthat wasn't released was it?
