09:53:29BFDiscordBridge<raptor> WHAT
09:53:55BFDiscordBridge<raptor> they're basically saying they want to go bleeding edge, rolling-ish, and if that bothers you, go buy from redhat
12:03:23BFDiscordBridge<Lamp> yes centos stream is absolutely NOT what centos was about. They even cancelled all 8 years of maintenance support from centos 8; it was supposed to be supported until 2029 or so, but now all support ends in december 2021! While centos 7 will still have all its support until 2024, ironically longer than centos 8. ridiculous.
12:08:56BFDiscordBridge<Lamp> so centos users are going to have to switch platforms. there's oracle linux, which is a free rhel clone just like centos. or maybe rocky linux will take control.
12:09:50BFDiscordBridge<raptor> i'd go to openSUSE or Arch
12:12:47BFDiscordBridge<Lamp> arch for a production server?
12:13:06BFDiscordBridge<Lamp> it's a rolling release, no better than centos stream
12:13:32BFDiscordBridge<raptor> oh, i mean if i had to do rolling release
12:13:43BFDiscordBridge<raptor> i do not like ubuntu server
12:13:55BFDiscordBridge<raptor> openSUSE Leap has two year maintenance
12:13:59BFDiscordBridge<raptor> not sure about fedora
12:13:59BFDiscordBridge<Lamp> hmm why not
12:14:26BFDiscordBridge<raptor> never been a fan of .deb distros, but I can use them if needed
12:16:32BFDiscordBridge<Lamp> fedora maintains releases for one year
12:20:23BFDiscordBridge<raptor> everyone could just go to Windows subsystem for Linux!
12:54:45BFDiscordBridge<Lamp> bruh
16:57:14BFDiscordBridge<raptor> I love the first comment on that post: "This is dumb. The entire premise and the only reason anyone uses CentOS is because it's rebuilt RHEL. Congratulations on undermining that, nitwits."
17:22:46BFDiscordBridge<Lamp> lol ya
17:46:27BFDiscordBridge<Lamp> lol someone made a website https://centos.rip/
17:50:18BFDiscordBridge<Skybax> That is awesome
18:10:33BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> @raptor our objType enums are messed up and none of them match anything
18:10:51BFDiscordBridge<raptor> say what
18:11:19BFDiscordBridge<raptor> let me test a levelgen in 021
18:11:37BFDiscordBridge<Skybax> how dare those enums
18:12:18BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> Oh wait don't test @raptor
18:12:22BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> I may have overstated
18:13:01BFDiscordBridge<raptor> kk
18:13:11BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> maybe we added some new objTypes to the middle of the enum list bumping everything up a number
18:14:32BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> To be clear I can still use them for what I'm trying to do and they're consistent
18:15:00BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> Its just that I am having to use divination (logprints in a test environment) to determine which enum goes to which object
18:16:29BFDiscordBridge<raptor> i don't understand what your problem
18:16:31BFDiscordBridge<raptor> is
18:16:52BFDiscordBridge<raptor> If you always just use the ObjType.LineItem or whatever, then it should be fine
18:17:20BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> oh I think last time I tried that (in 019?) it didn't work so I am using just the number
18:17:34BFDiscordBridge<raptor> WHT
18:17:37BFDiscordBridge<raptor> WHAT
18:17:42BFDiscordBridge<raptor> never use the number
18:17:47BFDiscordBridge<raptor> it can change from version to version
18:17:54BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> I have to use the number
18:18:02BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> :getObjType() returns a number
18:19:07BFDiscordBridge<raptor> technically it is a number, yes, but the proper way to use it is to check it against the enum: if weirdVar:getObjType() == ObjType.LineItem ....
18:21:00BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> oh well that works
18:21:37BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> I'm not backtracing my scripts though who knows how many I've done this in rofl
18:21:46BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> guess that identifies the problem though rofl
18:22:18BFDiscordBridge<raptor> heh
18:22:48BFDiscordBridge<raptor> You've been using the Weapon enum, though, right?
18:22:58BFDiscordBridge<raptor> will be important as a new weapon is being developed...
18:23:01BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> haha
18:23:05BFDiscordBridge<raptor> so the numbers will change
18:23:19BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> I think I've actually had to
18:23:27BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> you can't pass numbers in to setLoadout
18:23:33BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> it crashes
18:23:37BFDiscordBridge<bobdaduck> or something
18:23:55BFDiscordBridge<raptor> ah yeah, it takes a list
18:34:32BFDiscordBridge<Skybax> ono all bobs scripts are gonna bork
18:57:06BFDiscordBridge<raptor> please tell me you didn't use numbers in DnD
18:58:26BFDiscordBridge<raptor> actually i don't want to know
19:14:42BFDiscordBridge<Skybax> This is the story of how the levelgen emperor was brought to his knees by integers

20:17:26raptorBFLogBot_: you still talking?
20:17:26BFLogBotI don't need to compromise my principles, because they don't have the slightest bearing on what happens to me anyway. -- Calvin
20:17:27BFDiscordBridge<Skybax> hi raptor
20:18:07raptorwho's hosting this bridge again?
20:18:15BFDiscordBridge<raptor> Not me
20:18:18BFDiscordBridge<Skybax> lamp is our bridge wizard
20:18:35BFDiscordBridge<raptor> great!
21:03:04raptor has left #bitfighter
