VOTING PT 1: December 2014 Level Design Contest

Best level? You decide.
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Welcome to the first round of voting!

In this stage, you will select the FOUR best entries. Levels should be judged for their creativity, competitiveness, aesthetics, and fun factor. Levels should be judged on an individual basis, and should not be influenced by how they may have interacted with another half (ie. should not be downgraded for pairing with a bad level, or upgraded for pairing with a good level).

Voting Format: In the first stage of voting, users will vote for multiple levels. The highest voted level from each user will advance to the next round. (If a user submitted only a single level, that level will advance automatically.) This will ensure each participant only has one level in the running for the second round.

If many levels will advance automatically, why even include them in the first stage of voting? To protect anonymity and prevent bias. Voting ends Tuesday, January 13th at 11:59pm EST! Re-voting is allowed.

Feel free to explain how you voted below, but don't forget to discuss the levels in detail here! As levelmakers, we thrive for your feedback.

Re: VOTING PT 1: December 2014 Level Design Contest

Let me be clear: "Adaptive" and "compatible" are good traits worth factoring into your vote along with the other criteria, because levels with those characteristics tend to flow well which can be considered part of the competitiveness and fun criterion.

All I meant was that if you had a bad experience because one half was super unbalanced compared to the other side, you shouldn't weaken its vote because that wasn't its fault. Similarly, you shouldn't boost a vote because its pair happened to add balance in all the right ways. You should judge on an individual basis, but compatibility is definitely a fair voting factor. :) I'll update to reflect.
