Bitfighter code is now on Github

Hi,

For all those interested, we have migrated our code base to Github because Google Code is shutting down in less than a week.

With this comes some changes for developers or want-to-be developers:

1. The new code repository is now found here: https://github.com/bitfighter/bitfighter

2. Git. Of necessity we have changed to git from mercurial for the version control system. It is similar, but has a more difficult learning curve (in my opinion). Hopefully the tools github provides to interact with it will round off some of the rough edges - like their nicer web interface for pull requests and issues.

3. Visibility. Github is the de-facto standard for open source projects and grants us a lot more visibility with other developers.

Question. Will all the issues on code.google be transferred over to GitHub?

Arg we will have to register again.

I assume that all issues and bugs will be moved over.

Yes, issues will move - I just need to figure out how to do that...

Will any sub branches be moved over from the google code site ?

If you mean Google code clones, then no. But the Google code will stick around for a little while so people can keep their own changes and apply them to Github.

Is there any way to get my a clone of my project still or is it too late then ?

I guess its ok I was not to far into the project anyways.

Yes. I said Google code will stick around for a while - you have plenty of time to grab your clone.
