Linkin's Level Topic

I figured it would be easier to have all of my levels in one place then cluttered around the whole section, and with _k's approval, here is my level topic.

Please do not host my levels unless I submit it to a contest as I plan to have my own server running.

The whole archive for the levels I've decided to post can be found here. Let me know if you have problems. Don't worry about the numbers, they'll go away on their own. http://linkin.pastebin.com/

(Will get previews up soon)

----------

HTF-Zenith : A HTF level I made while messing around with the curve tool, although most of the curves are hand-made. The first version was kind of crammed but I modified it and now I believe it compliments the HTF gametype more than it did before. Playing with a few people I find that the score doesn't rise very high but let me know if the game ends too fast and I may change it.

RET-Robbery : This is actually based on a level that was made a long long time ago (2005-2007 I can't quite remember) but the basic concept is that each team starts with a flag and if you make a mistake the other team may score. In the past the gameplay was quite fun and with even teams can become quite intense.

ZCT-Trust : I made the first version of this map after C. Bob said it was easy to make a Zone Control map. Took 23 minutes. This version looks nothing like the last one, the only thing that stayed the same is the name: trust. Looks like a stock map, but that's OK because I don't like those fancy, complicated maps. Simple is fun to play imo.

Re: Linkin's Level Topic

Rapture
I like this one okay, but I have some trouble imagining the gameplay. There's a minor forcefield mismatch coming off the center hemispheres.

Zenith
This one is my favorite! I really dig the center and the big goalzones. The fill barriers seem more suited to a gametype where people fly around with the flag, as opposed to one where you want the flag to sit still.

Velodrome
This might sound crazy, but the first time I loaded this up I managed to crash it in about three seconds. For some reason, the barrier joints seem to be vulnerable...particularly to direct phaser fire. Bitfighter trying to do the math on all that stuff in the middle causes it to crash.

edit: will wait to host velodrome until it's a bit more stable

Re: Linkin's Level Topic

Please do not host my levels unless they are submitted to a contest or something as I plan to have my own server running.

Now, I updated Zenith to hopefully make it more suited to the Hold the Flag gametype. Please check it out if you haven't already, and post any comments you might have.

I got rid of Rapture and Velodrome as I decided I didn't really like them anymore. If you really want them they are still on the archive: http://linkin.pastebin.com/archive_subdomain.php?p=1

I also added a Retrieve called Robbery. It's based on a level made a long long time ago. More info in the first post.

Re: Linkin's Level Topic

I'll take these off the server...but posting levels publicly usually means you're okay with people saving them and hosting them if they see fit. Thanks for the heads-up.

Re: Linkin's Level Topic

I noticed there aren't very many (if any) Zone Control levels in the Map Gallery, so I thought I post one I made. A lot like the stock ZC but I like it that way. Post comments.

Re: Linkin's Level Topic

Reminds me a bit of TYDT, but I'm not a huge fan of "confetti" filler barriers.
