An old version of my RS levels pack

I might not even have included a proper credits line in some of these, but I got this zip from an old email I sent to masteryd back in June of 2005. In addition to rocket ships, the level includes some of the barrier penetration stuff I was working on before I exploded at everyone for taking my ideas and claiming credit. ololol fun times!

Anyway, here's the zip (it was originally in an old .sit file), enjoy.

Re: An old version of my RS levels pack

For your convenience I have changed all of the extensions from .txt to .level.

I've tested them out, and they all loaded and should play just fine. Unfortunately, due to changes in the way speedzones work, certain levels do not function as designed, ranging from minor discrepancies (Deathtrap, Jousting) to basically not working at all (Gun Show, Shipyard).

There are also a number of quality levels in there that did not depend on speedzone physics. I quite like the look of Bump and Hamster Injection (Hamster_Snipers.level) as very playable levels. Additionally, there are a few large, highly detailed levels that look like they would be a lot of fun with many players (Castles in the Sky, Plumbing).

In any case, there's certainly some quality material here to be had, with a bit of sorting.

And, as always, Airlock deserves your vote.

There are some seriously awesome levels in this pack. You need to stick around a while and play with all the new design tools!!

Thanks for posting these!

Re: An old version of my RS levels pack

Thanks a bunch for posting these maps. You have no idea how much fun I had on Chess, Hall Pass, Light vs. Dark, and PLUMBING. Wow, I loved (and still love) Plumbing.

Do you have more by any chance?

I recall playing a map of yours that was a CTF, and it had a narrow hallway filled with lasers. Half of the hallway were your lasers, and the other half were the enemy's lasers. The lasers were staggered in such a way that an enemy had to go up, down, up, down, but you could go straight through them. The map provided for very interesting gameplay.

If you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, I can probably recreate it, as it's rather simple. Still, thought I'd ask.

Re: An old version of my RS levels pack

The trusty laptop I did most of my development stuff for Zap! on was sadly stolen around 2009 or so, so unless it's at my old home server in Tokyo, I'm not sure if I can find the old maps.

I did have a series of maps named after Japanese numbers, Ichi, Ni, San, Shi, etc. Perhaps the map you're thinking of was one of those. I'll see if I can dig around the old server for a backup of my old Zap! level files.

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. When were you in Japan?

I vaguely remember that series, and I don't think it was one of those. Fortunately it was a simple enough concept (unlike, cough, Plumbing :D) that can be recreated in Bitfighter.
