Problems in v016

When in-game numpad doesn't work if I use it to configure my ship loadouts out use it as my cmap but it works fine if i chat using it.

Due to how much of the code was rewritten, there are probably many little things like this that snuck in.

When I was making a level in the editor I was making straight line loadout zones when I delete one of the 4 I had on each team they would all go away or in-game they wouldn't show up at all but it doesn't happen every time also when i delete one of them i can't undo it at all.

For your first problem, can you still set the keys in the 'Define Keys' menu in 'Options'?

If that works, then great!

For your second problem, can you please describe what a 'straight-line' load-out zone is for me? Also, were all the loadouts on the same team, and were they created via copy/paste?

Ok, now this is kinda a weird bug. When going into the server lobby, I cant see anyone in the server lobby, unless I leave and rejoin 1 or 2 times. Then I join a server. I hit f5, and everyone that's in the global chat lobby are still there. Now after hitting f5 2 or more times, the names on the bottom of the screen are gone so that it says "no one is in the chat lobby", but I can still see people chatting in that lobby. It's only when someone joins the lobby, I can see their name...and only their name. Then the whole thing loops if a leave the server and go back to the server lobby.

Cmap works but the others don't - straight line = loadout zone but the end together on each side so it looks like a line - blue red teams 4 straight lines on each team no copy or paste and i'm kinda having trouble with finding the 016 folder with screenshots and levels and all. I did un-install and there's no 15a just 16 but i had to move my old levels and stuff over.

/ban makes the entire client crash
When you host a temporary server and leave when people are still on it, it also crashes.

I cannot duplicate your crash. Can you? And if so, can you be more specific; like when the crash happens, how many players, were there bots, etc.?

I have duplicated your lobby chat bug. I guess that's the one I'm working on next! :)

@Footloose

I can use 'Define Keys' to set the number pad to change weapons just fine. Are you using a normal keyboard with an extra number pad, or are you using something more like a laptop keyboard?

Also, a screenshot would indeed be very helpful of your level setup in the editor. You just position the map how you like it, then press together CTRL + Q, and a screenshot will be saved to the directory called 'screenshots' within your bitfighter installation.

I cannot duplicate the editor bug, so it will have to wait until it can be duplicated reliably with more information.

For your number pad bug, I now know what you meant after speaking with you in-game - you meant that the number pad doesn't work with load-out and other helper menus. I have a couple ideas on how to fix it but I need to run it by the other devs...

@Skybax, are you running Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger?) If so, is it ppc or x86 (Intel)?

I ask because all shortcuts work fine on my 10.6 system.

Snow Leopard is definitely Intel. That's what I'm running, too, and the keys work. Once question - did you get the 32bit or 64bit build?

BUG FIND. I see that when iconnect to a pto, and it closes during the "punching through firewalls" step, it will keep connecting for a while before the "Connection Terminated" error appears.

I got the 64bit build.
I also just downloaded the 64bit build on a Mac at my school, which is one of the newest Intels running Lion, and it had the same problem.

Also, neither bots nor levelgen worked on the version that I downloaded at my school, so I'm thinking this means that the code for the bots and the levelgen isn't included in the stock program. Shouldn't it be?

Also, the loadouts don't save from level to level. I don't mean that you don't spawn with the loadout you want, I mean you have to open the loadout menu and redo it if you want the loadout zone to do anything.
It's really annoying.

Sometimes when I use burst on spawn shield, the player still takes damage. :|
Also, the force from the burst pushes the player with the spawn shield.

I got ahold of real Mac keyboard and duplicated broken command keys - now I have to think what on earth the problem could be...

The bot problem at your school is probably because it was run on 10.7 Lion. Lion broke lots of applications in weird ways and I won't be able to figure out our problem until I get my hands on a copy

When I open bitfighter in a window, and then then go to options to make it full screen again, the window disappears compleatly and forced to quit bitfighter. However if bitfighter is opened in full screen, I don't have this issue.

I don't know if this is a bug or not... :|

When I was editing the cage bitmatch map (from sam686 server), I couldn't test/play it with the cages (made up with dotted walls). The cages were simply not there and it would not save any dotted/one-point walls.

I miss the ability to have one-point walls in a custom-made map... :cry:

Did yall took this out in purpose? :cry:

I don't think 1-pt walls ever worked. Those were probably shot 2-pt walls, and we did nothing (deliberately) to break them.

If something is lost, it's beyond broken. It's GONE! Also, they didn't take it out in purpose, so a mistake was made in the update.

Not if you save it and open the map up again. (you have to log out of bitfighter and log back in and load the saved map again) The game doesn't save the 1-point walls correctly or refuses to save them.

I created a wall and minimized it to the lowest degree of thinness. (like this ----) Then I put two points in the same point to make it look like a 1-point wall. I saved it and then quitted bitfighter. Then I relogin and load the map again and it doesn't show the 1-point walls anymore. It's like it wasn't saved at all. (same process we all used before the update to make 1-point walls, except it was actually saved)

It looks like a 2 point barrier fails to load into editor at all in 016, but works in game, and on 015. Testing a 2 same point barrier from editor is not loading a 2 same point barrier into editor.

Well that's annoying it has to be the last save or else it's gone. That means if I was to edit the bitmatch cage map, I have to recreate the cages and save them last.

On some maps I can hurt my own core, but on some maps I can't. Why is that? Do we want allies hurting our own core?

Also, when I click play different level, there's a scrolling problem when I use my mouse. This didn't happened to me in the version 0.15. So I have to use the arrow keys, instead of using the mouse now... :|
When I try scrolling with the mouse, it just screws up and won't move down nor up well.

I fixed the scripts/robots error in the Mac packages and re-posted them for download. Other Mac-specific bugs are not fixed and will not be until next release (if I can figure them out.)

Also, the load-out saving was purposefully removed for consistency's sake - before we had weird rules for when a load-out was saved and you therefore didn't always get it saved.

A problem I've seen:
Game does not save which input device is to be used. My "joystick" according to Windows is actually a Wiimote I connect to my computer occasionally, and requires highly specialized drivers to work with. I set it to use keyboard, but whenever I exit and run again, it goes back to the joystick. It's driving me crazy.

karamazovapy found a bug with playing music:

If you play music with bitfighter on Windows and close the game using the 'X' (close window button) the bitfighter.exe process will not shut down and spike your CPU, even though the game looks like it has shutdown.

You will have to open the task list and kill the bitfighter.exe process if you want a responsive system back..

It actually doesn't seem to matter how you quit...just know that if you're playing music, the process doesn't die when it should.
