Ubuntu Build?

I noticed that getdeb does not have the new bitfighter, should I wait, or should I try to build it on my own? (Not sure exactly how, but have a general idea.) :?
I just realized, my avatar seems to have fallen of the face of the earth as well. :|

Re: Ubuntu Build?

Building is actually pretty easy, but I think(?) raptor is working on a couple different packages.(?)

Re: Ubuntu Build?

I build for common RPM-based distros and Debian (but only as an experiment):

http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... ebian_6.0/

Ubuntu folks do all their own stuff. Usually you just have to prod them and they'll do it.

Re: Ubuntu Build?

Try building it; it's pretty much as easy as typing "make".

Re: Ubuntu Build?

I just finished setting up Arch Linux, and I noticed someone already compiled it. :D Going to try it soon. If it does not work I will build it myself, hopefully. If I do make a deb I will post it here if you want lolz. It can not be much harder then setting up arch linux, that was quite the linux experience. :?

Re: Ubuntu Build?

Okay, before attempting to make a deb, i compiled it and gave it a test run. Sadly, there was no sound and it did not like my mouse or keyboard.... Well, the mouse and keyboard worked for the menus but not in game :? (The reason I want to make a deb is just so I do it once and know how...)

Re: Ubuntu Build?

I am sorry to say that creating a DEB can be harder than setting up linux...

Did you try the Debian 6.0 DEB I created here?:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... ebian_6.0/

As a last resort, you may want to check out the 'alien' script that will just convert an RPM to a deb. See here:

http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/11/ali ... -examples/

Try one of the RPMs at the Open Build Service, perhaps one of these that are build for other systems:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... x86_64.rpm
http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... x86_64.rpm

Note that 'alien' may not work perfectly - I'd say there's an 80% change it'll work

Re: Ubuntu Build?

The deb you create works great, and so does my mouse and keyboard! Thanks a lot. Life is good. :)
Maybe you should put that on the download page. ;)
