FPS Lag Spikes

Is anyone else having random FPS lag spikes on kaen test? I'm not sure if it's the server or if it's because I play there most of the time. Basically what happens is the screen becomes kinda glitchy a couple times, and at its peak the screen will freeze for 1-2 seconds. After each fps lag spike I also experience server lag where my ship will droop all over the place as it returns to normal.

It's that last part that usually kills me, because the game tries to put me back to where I was going... which is often in the line of fire for someone.

I'm using a Mac, Snow Leopard 10.6.8, 64-bit 018a. I've never seen this kind of bug before until within the past couple of weeks or so.

Weird. Probably not the server, but how could a computer do this? Try running the application "Console" to see if your computer is doing something else while you play.

Re: FPS Lag Spikes

This is mostly like caused by another program on computer eating up resources. This can be sadly be anything, but some common ones are:

- an antivirus program decides to kick in
- notifications that try to be shown on top of the window (OpenGL games hate this)
- the hard drive being written to / read from at high rates (this can occur especially if you're downloading large files at high speeds)

There are many things, but they have to do with either CPU, graphics, or hard drive over-usage.

I don't have lag spikes, (I never have lag in Bitfighter when on a normal level), but I do sometimes lose connection to kaen test for a bit.

Re: FPS Lag Spikes

same here but not just on kaen test so im assuming your computer is running sighting that either A. eats lots of cpu or B is using to much memory if your on windows you can press crtl+alt+del and select processes to see if there is anything you can do DISCLAIMER:DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING YOU MAY CRASH YOUR COMPUTER!.
thats how i found this stupid virus on my computer called tidy network but norton doesnt find it malicious so i haven't figured out how to remove it yet.....
