Internet???

Ping has started…

--- google.com ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 26.668/27.406/28.251/0.500 ms

I guess they upgraded. Never gotten speeds like this before

Re: Internet???

Ping does not measure speed, only delay.
1 second = 1000 milliseconds (ms)

Unlike bitfighter.org (1 server), there are multiple google.com servers. Pinging or going to google.com often picks the closer server out of multiple servers.

My ping google.com (24.220.112.26) gives me 8-12 ms.
My ping bitfighter.org (209.148.88.166) gives me 75-79 ms.
My ping sam6.25u.com (96.2.25.239) gives me 0.27 ms. Perhaps cause I am located less then 10 inches away from my home server.

But again, ping does not test speed, To test speed, that is what http://www.speedtest.net/ is for, to test speed. Mine happen to be 34 Mbps download, 4.9 Mbps upload.

Re: Internet???

Ping is arguably more important in Bitfighter, where round-trip packet times have a more visible effect than data transfer rates, as our data use is rather small.
