mac ppc problem

I have heard that Little_Apple and BlackBird share 2 computers, both mac, but one of 2 computer they have is older and won't run Bitfighter. The old computer Little_Apple / BlackBird have is Mac os Tiger, ppc. The problem i have been told is it won't run in their older mac computer.

Note that I don't have any mac at this time, so i can't help much. You may have to talk to Little_Apple or BlackBird, as currently Little_Apple and BlackBird can't play at the same time due to sharing the only computer they have that runs bitfighter.

Re: mac ppc problem

i did not release 015a, so I do not know if that was compiled to support older ppc architecture and 10.4, but if the release right now wasn't made to support both of those, I can re-build with stable support for both of those specs. I do say stable, but I can't guarantee there will be no bugs. Bitfighter was upgraded a while back, to mainly support 10.5, but there is certainly no limitations to us removing any bugs that do show up.

Ok, this little bit of information is important and makes a big difference. If bitfighter isn't built to be supported on 10.4, or PPC, you will get a message, different for each spec that isn't met^^. If bitfighter bounces in the dock and crashes, that means bitfighter has compiled code that works with bitfighter, but a critical error is causing it to crash on launch.

A few common things cause this on your computer:

-Certain USB mouses attached to computer cause joystick keyboard initiation to fail for some reason, and bitfighter will crash without message.

-Framework is missing from system library that is present on 10.5 and 10.6, but not 10.4 thats essential to bitfighter running. That framework then needs to be added into bitfighter manually. I highly doubt this is the case, but it will cause the same kind of crash.

-There are a few others; I'm just too dizzy and tired to think about anything right now; so i'll edit this post tomorrow if the above weren't the causes

gooooooodnight

Re: mac ppc problem

That specific problem happened to me twice, though not on a PPC, but an Intel.
First, if parental controls are set to not allow new applications, sometimes it doesn't tell you that you can't open it, it just bouncefails.
Second, if you move the Bitfighter app, well, pretty much anywhere, it bouncefails. Any subfolder, I think. It worked if it was on the Desktop, but it wouldn't work if I put it in my games folder.
I don't actually know if any of these things are the problem, though, as I'm not on a PPC.

Re: mac ppc problem

It might be a bit complicated, but you can install tiger onto your imac from your other mac computer.

I'd rather not explain it out in steps, because it isn't the easiest thing to do, but you can find an article on it here:

Re: mac ppc problem

Bitfighter has minimum system requirements of 10.4. Zap! Was able to run on 10.3. So the system requirements have somehow gone up with the features that have been added to bitfighter.

Re: mac ppc problem

Bitfighter works on 10.4

And if you want to install mac os x something on a computer without a DVD drive, check this web site. It worked for me (using it right now and Bitfighter on it)

follow the instructions
