Custom Shape Test Objects.

So Here is somting I think would be interesting Custom Shape Test Objects.

Basically would Be The exact item but You Can add, remove, And move points like for a poywall.

This would give Bitfighter more variety For example you could Create Puzzle Maps. or Create Sliding Doors or Have Moving Test Obect Arenas.

What do you Think?

That explains nothing. I have no idea what feature you're describing.

I think he means fully customizable test items that float and bounce around just like current test items.

Can you describe a custom test object you'd want to create? (Or better, post a graphic?)

Re: Custom Shape Test Objects.

The more I think about this idea, the more I love it. It's basically an alternate method for creating moving walls. A script could presumably move it along a path and toggle its reaction to a user shooting at it (having it fly away vs having it unaffected by shots). But if that's too much... there are a lot of potential ideas that don't involve a script.

For example a square testitem that fits nicely into a pathway. Players could shoot it into an adjoining corridor to slow enemies. Or a thin rectangular testitem that intersects a path. Players could shoot it out of position to let teammates through, then back into position to block enemies.

Along with this I would definitely like to see the varying sizes of testitems, noted here: https://code.google.com/p/bitfighter/is ... ail?id=388

Re: Custom Shape Test Objects.

You can already create this mechanic with a TestItem. Try creating a test level and see if it is as fun as you think it would be.

Re: Custom Shape Test Objects.

Not really I tried this and it was quite fun having test items of different shapes and sizes can add variety to a match like changing the way people hide behind them.

pPtting this as a ingame feature makes it easier to do also.

It depends on the way its used if its not used well then its not good but if its used well ( Most Likely) it can be implemented well in levels.

You're right, but it's definitely a lot rougher around the edges with a polygonal testitem that bounces off every nook and cranny. Amgine, can you think of some situations where a different shaped testitem could be used that has advantages over the testitem's current shape?

Something that might be interesting would be a very rounded testitem that glided along walls like a soccer ball.

Re: Custom Shape Test Objects.

I think all objects are round in Bitfighter, and resource item's clunkiness on round walls are due to it's low mass (maybe?)
