SUPER AWESOME POLY-COLOR-SQUARES!!!

Basically all these are, are colored poly-shapes. They have similar, if not identical features that a goal or load out would have, only it's not a goal or load out, and dosnt have any text on it. It's simply a square of color. You would change the color by hitting return and changing the red, green, and blue amounts. Now the reason for this would mainly be to decorate the level (duh). And before you ask why we need this, ask why we needed the line item.
Comments? Criticisms?

I like the idea but the tool bar at the right side of the map editor doesn't have room for 5 or more tools. Maybe the tool bar could be bigger...idk. I like your idea because I want the same thing too sometimes; I dislike seeing the word goal or load-out zone on a colored square sometimes.
Painting squares > Drawing Lines.

It's kinda like Christmas. Cloths might not be on the wishlists, but they will be worn. Likewise, I view this idea as something everyone's not very crazy about, but I'm certain it will be used a lot. Just look at some other levels that have load outs or goals used as an arrow or something that it wasn't ment to be used.

Or it could be used in your I-Pod or I-Pad map. OR it could be used in a Painting Map. OR....etc.
I would like it in dungeons as well.

How do you prevent against creating fake zones/walls/etc. ?

Have the loadout zone/goal text a similar color to that of the team which the goal/loadout zone belongs to. Either do that or alter some other very minor feature to the goal/loadout zone or poly-color thing to make forging practically impossible.

I think if we have colored shapes, then we should be able to set them to any color. That way we can use shapes to make art and stuff.
It seems to me that instead of trying to modify colored shapes, we should consider changing existing zones. Besides, the current zones aren't very attentive. (I haven't brought this up before because it hasn't been a big deal, but modifying the current zone appearance to be more attentive seems like it would go hand in hand with adding art zones.) What about adding something like diagonal stripes to goal zones?
edit: Crap, I guess this wouldn't stop users from making fake walls and stuff. Perhaps art zones could be slightly transparent?

... and bad for regular gameplay. This has already been discussed at length, and as far as I'm aware the devs made the (smart) decision to discourage features that would elicit fake walls except for dungeon maps.

fake walls actully could be used cleverly i can think of a few examples imagine a version of maze racer with more paths but there are fake walls generated........ also it makes it more statigic having to be able to tell the real and fake ones apart.

Sure, but those are novelty maps. I think the idea is to separate novelty map-exclusive features from the regular features.

Let me be clear about this: I am completely opposed to fake walls and hidden walls.
For completely unrelated reasons, I have started experimenting with using icons for zones instead of text (as described in another thread). This would make faking zones more difficult, as it would not be possible to create icons without some difficulty.
I have a good loadout zone icon done, and am thinking of ideas for out other zones.

What about making color zones slightly transparent? This would effectively negate the possibility of them being used for trickery, but still allow for artistic use.

I like this, but in practice what does transparency add when there's nothing behind it? Only thing there is stars and it would have to be pretty transparent to show those, and would be hit and miss if there were no stars behind it or anything.

Crap, you're right. Good catch. But hey, there should be an even simpler solution anyway -- if fake walls are the problem, then maybe just prohibit color zones of the same RGB set as walls? And maybe prohibit a few close shades too. I'm pretty sure someone has suggested this before but it seems like it should work fine.
Ex. if walls are 50-50-50 (I know they're not), then prohibit all RGB values between 47 and 53 for Red, Green, Blue each. If at least one of the three colors is <40 or 60>, then the blacklisting for the other colors is negated.
I'm terrible at computing this, so I'm sure there's a more efficient way, but this should technically get the job done.

I'm not sure if that would work, because the solid color background could still blend in with the surrounding environment -- thus the potential for fake walls.
Nice idea though.
