Hi this is amgine with another idea a elimination mode.

Here is how it works each player starts with a count of zero deaths when they die they will respawn but now there death count is 1 when a person has x number of deaths (determined but the host) they are elimanted from play till the next match last person surviving wins. :D

Cheers, Amgine :D

Read that, it's very similar to your idea.

The problem with this is that people would quickly become bored without the implementation of a spectator mode. Its much easier simply to use bitmatch.

Last I heard elimination was given a green light pending implementation of a spectator mode to stave off boredom.

As far as spectator mode, how about you just spectate the player which just killed you, then if someone kills the person you are spectating, then you switch to that person and spectate him etc, etc.

Kinda like the "Winner's Camera" that is used in racing games? It only follows the person in the lead.

Ghost ships, when the player is dead he turns into a ghost ship which cannot interact with any other object except for walls. Probably a slightly transparent or white ship.

Or it could be like you are in the level editor, being able to zoom or pan.

I'm pretty strongly opposed to elimination games in the Bitfighter context.

Hmm, ok, maybe I heard wrong then. Are you making this opinion based on the current situation, or might you be swayed by the addition of a spectator mode that would lessen boredom between rounds?

I think an elimination mode would be great for competitive play, in both regular games and league games. With a small community I think casual game modes ought to be implemented first however, catering to all players, and the competitive modes should be re-evaluated when Bitfighter has gained a significant amount of players.

Genius :D
Also, elimination mode is usually a quick game-play, like bitmatch, because players don't respawn to fight again. There's not many players in bf so the wait can't be that long, especially if the map is small.

I'm not sure a spectator mode would hold the interest of game participants. I think keeping everyone involved in the game is the best way to keep people from drifting away after they've been eliminated, while they are waiting for a new game to begin.

And there are tons of practical problems, such as bored players quitting and rejoining so they can be back in the game.

- I still think it depends entirely on the audience. A casual group of players will probably not be satisfied with waiting, but a competitive group could probably stomach it. Look at the classic example of Counter-Strike -- its entire game is built around one-life death match.

Of course, our current audience is mostly made up of casual players, and even if there were competitive players there wouldn't be enough to warrant its creation at this time. Thus, I'm not really pushing for the mode anymore, but I still think it should be re-evaluated when Bitfighter is more populated.

- I know there are other practical issues, but that specific problem could be fixed easily by reverting all incoming players to the spectator team until the round is finished. But I understand what you're getting at.

Added punctuation and spelling. But maybe, just have a bitmatch arena for eliminated players while the others are still in the main level.
