Leveling system?

Hi this is amgine here just to suggest a Leveling sytem be added to the game.

so zapping people fills a exp gauge say 23/100 exp as a example
also the higher level player you beat you get more exp up to a certain point so it would look like this.

Lvl 1 zaps Lvl 1 = 2 Exp
Lvl 1 zaps Lvl2 = 4 Exp
Lvl 1 zaps level 3 = 6 exp
Lvl 1 zaps Lvl 4 = 8 exp
Lvl 1 zaps Lvl 5 = 10 exp
Lvl 1 zaps Lvl 6 = 12 exp
Lvl 1 zaps Lvl 7 = 14 exp
Lvl 1 zaps Lvl 8 -= 16 exp
Lvl 1 zaps Lvl 9 = 18 exp
Lvl 1 zaps Lvl 10+ = 20 exp
(note shooting chumpchanges gets you 0 exp to prevent simmers)

Now with this system you start with some base stats and every time you level up you get to add one point to that stat which increases it x amount here are some ideas for some catigories to add.

shot power.
shot distance..
shot speed.
ship speed.
ship energy.
ship health.
ship control
ship accelration

Also your rank would show up on your Forum Acount.

This would allow for some stragey to be added to game, and would make it funner. Most mongs (multi player online games) that I have seen (and played) that has a leveling sytems are very popular and have a large clientel.

anyways is this possible?

Cheers, amgine

(sorry post not finished will finish later.)

when i first read this idea, this is what came into mind: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1482&view=unread#unread

Abuse. someone could just kill some idle person over and over again getting tons of xp. Yes this is possible to implement, but I'm not sure if it would be a very good addition to the game. Also, what would you use your xp with?

The general consensus is that a level-up system is a bad idea, but please, explain what you're thinking.

The only two ways I could see that XP systems would be good is if:

1. Gaining levels unlocked aesthetic things

2. Gaining levels simply gave you a number rank, kind of like "Post Count" on the forums, that you could show off

3. Both

If nothing is explained, I see no reason to execute it. :|

Just an idea that might be more plausible as a level up system...

There is a maximum of 3-6 levels (personally leaning toward 3) levels are gained by killing other players, one to a level. If you are killed you go back to level 1. The bonuses for leveling up should give you an edge but also should not obsolete other bitfighters. This would discourage the berserk base-rush style often employed, I believe its application would be more plausible for dungeon/rabbit modes.

I doubt even this would work, something to think about, though.

So we would go from a chaotic/frantic style of playing to a more dainty/poke 'em/overly-drawn-out strategic form of playing?
