Type/Menu Killing......

Hi this is amgine and here is somthing that has anoyyed me for a long time and i belive its time it got fixed.

It is very anoyying and aggervating when you are typiong a message in hte global or team chat or even typing in a commnad or going trough the menu and somone kills you which gives the the advantage.

so here is what I propose

when a person is typing a command or chatting or going through the menu they cant be destoryed but to prevent abuse ( for example somone is winning a bitmatch and they go into type mode for the rest of the match so thye cant be killed winning) there is a time limit for how long it lasts.

what do you guys think?

The only way I can see this as being semi-balanced is if it would have a delay before taking effect. But this also could/would be abused a lot in gametypes like rabbit and nexus and... Pretty much anything with a flag involved.

I say no. The first thing that comes to mind is abuse. You must also realize that in such cases, the player should know they are taking a risk when doing anything other than fighting.

Maybe don't let your ship automatically spawn after you die, till you get out of the menu or out of chatting line? Pressing a fire / move buttons to spawn never having automatic respawn could be more useful to allow waiting till your ship die to chat, then when ready, press a fire button to spawn.

Want to make typing a chat or opening a menu automatically turn on your shield module?, limited by how much energy your ship have.

Or have a respawn button for every time you die.

I can think of one big way this idea could be abused -- protection while sitting in the enemy's base could result in an unfair advantage of being able to see what's going on without any danger. Or, I could use this as a way to approach the enemy safely by simply turning on and off chat mode. Think Red Light Green Light but in bitfighter.

While I appreciate the frustration when dying while typing, I think it's a given that in any online game stopping to type/get food/rest is a risk, and the consequences are simply the fault of the player.

That said, I won't just shoot down your idea without providing an alternative! Maybe this "protection system" could prevent the player from seeing anything save for the chat dialog?

A better and easier solution would be to type faster (take typing classes) or have macros for messages.

I don't see how my "Use shield module while typing, limited by ship energy" idea can really be abused. My idea is just like using Shield without moving. Only side effect is, I hate to see my shield drain for nothing, so maybe make it keep the modules on only if you press G while holding the module button, until you done typing.

No automatic respawn while typing can be useful here, as nothing can be seen while in idle mode. Just remember to not start typing until your ship is about to die, and you are waiting to respawn, but only if this idea was added to game.

I think this is the best solution. You might get killed once, but not multiple times. It's also hard to abuse.

What about when you type, you can still shoot and shield (mouse)

I do not have three hands.

It would be just as easy to smash "Escape" with your forearm and regain control of the mouse with your hand.
