Outside dots on barriermakers

You know those outside dots? If you drag a goal with a wall on the map, you can see them. I want to be able to drag the wall itself by those outside dots, and be able to see them at will, without having to drag a zone.

For those not in the know, a screenie will be provided

as i drag the goal zone purple dots become visible on the outside of a wall - You can connect directly to them.
I simply wish to be able to toggle them on/off, and drag that wall directly by those hidden dots.

Sorry, but could you repeat the question?

Re: Outside dots on barriermakers

When you drag a vertex of an object, extra purple dots appear on all corners/joints of walls to help with alignment. Taz is asking for a toggle to always keep those dots on or off.

Re: Outside dots on barriermakers

That, and to be able to drag the wall itself by them. Right now it only aligns according to the middle.

Re: Outside dots on barriermakers

Try dragging the wall at a spot closer to the vertex. I'm not entirely sure how the system works, but you can change which point the drag affects by the position you place your cursor.

Re: Outside dots on barriermakers

no, sky, to my knowledge those outside vertex dots only appear if you are dragging a zone or polywall
They won't appear if you try to drag a wall.

So e.g. I have this 150 width wall, I can only drag it from the center vertex, and not the outside vertexes. Yet I am allowed to connect zones to them.

I think you can only do that with polywalls

Re: Outside dots on barriermakers

The little purple dots on Barriers are not part of the geometry of the object and therefore cannot be dragged. These points are for assistance in snapping other objects in the editor.

A Barrier, by nature, is a 'thick' line, not a polygon.

To be clear, those dots are snap targets -- that is, places you could snap things to.

Re: Outside dots on barriermakers

Speaking of snapping, is there any way to turn it off? Things still snap even when I'm holding space, and that makes it frustrating to get things close but not touching.

Shift + space should disable snapping entirely.

After working on a level with lots of weird angles and varying wall thicknesses, these purple dots are actually pretty useful. Would it be possible to have them appear when dragging regular wall vertices too?

The dots do appear when dragging PolyWall vertices. Do you mean for Barriers?

Re: Outside dots on barriermakers

Yeah, sorry. I still think of line barriers as "regular walls" and poly walls as "weird new wall shapes." ;)
