layer objects (read post, title sucks)

I want a setting for objects that lets me stick them in a dominant and background layer.

Example
When I play a game of Bitfighter, already I see that
a. Walls are background,
b. Goalzones are dominant.
If you place a goalzone overlapping a wall (barriermaker) the boundaries of the goalzone take priority over showing the boundaries of the wall.
I want to be able to switch this. This way I could literally make the wall all kinds of crazy shapes with maybe hundreds of points, and when I want the goalzone (or polywall, or anything else) to be the same shape, it's a lot easier.
This would also allow barriermakers to be visible inside Polygons. (ordinarily the Polygon hides the Barriermaker)

I have one reason
It's a lot easier to make shapes with barriermakers than with polygons.

I believe there is a plugin for converting walls to, say, goalzones, that will give you the outcome you are looking for.

The plugin is the 'convert' plugin and is distributed with 019b

What he's describing would be useful for other things though...

There's also "AutoSnap" which cuts zones so that the polywalls underneath them are visible.

I'm all for this, but there are important implications. This would allow editors to hide objects underneath a goal or loadout zone - first aid kits, teleporters, walls, etc.

What if you made your wall the desired shape, then added a lot of vertices to your goal zone and dragged them to snap to the wall's vertices? It would be a little more work, but would probably have the same effect.

Re: layer objects (read post, title sucks)

I just tried the convert tool. The result is funny

This is before

I then delete the old Goalzone and used the Converter tool
This is After

Both can be viewed together

These are several wall segments around each Goalzone, and they all overlap the goalzone to some extent. The converter tool also ignores wall width.

This is the source of my suggestion. If I could just put the Goalzone into the background it would automatically be in the desired shape (and come to think of it, I could do it with only 3 points too. A win-win)
P.s. I'm arguing for simplicity here, it's hard to get simpler.
