Server Automatically Greets You

I think it would be nice if you could set up an automatic greeting message that would welcome a player every time they joined the server. For example:

Server: Welcome to Sky_lark's Rabbit Server, featuring a dozen awesome Rabbit maps.

Another idea is to greet you personally:

Server: Welcome, johndoe, to Sky_lark's Rabbit Server!

It would be a different color than a regular player's chat color and would be visible to all players, but would only pop up when somebody joined.

Going even further... maybe you could set up the server to send out a message every x seconds.

Example: Every three minutes (180 seconds) the following message would be sent out to all players:

Thoughts? Numerous multiplayer games have these capabilities and I think it's a great way to communicate with the players, even if you're not online.

None of those ideas particularly grab me, but this first one seems the least un-grabbing. It's easy to do, and I'd be willing to do it -- a simple greeting message that would appear in the chat area when you first connect to a server.

But think -- there's a lot going on when you first join a server: lots of names scroll by in the chat window; the F2 data is visible; you're trying to get acclimated to the new game. Do you really want to read some message from the server owner?

If you still want this feature, put in a bug report, and I can probably get it in the 014 release.

Hmmm, could it be possible to use this in a way that would notify players, of another player crashing/going AFK?
