Editor Request

Could you build the "dilation machine" into the editor?

I'm thinking:
1) Highlight a selection
2) Hit the stretch&skew key (let's say K)
3) A prompt pops up requesting a decimal to transform the X coordinate and another for the Y coordinate
4) Hit Enter
5) Are you sure?
6) BAM! MATRICIES! MATH! MAGIC! NEW SIZE!

That's the idea, anyway.

Re: Editor Request

How about that key instead puts a box around that area and allows you to scale it by dragging one of the corners?

Re: Editor Request

I like the other way because it would be more accurate and presumably easier to code...but I'm open minded on the execution.

Re: Editor Request

Great idea! Maybe you could select barriers / zones, hit K or whatever, and then use the up/down arrows to dilate at a preset rate. This would be easier for most people to use. You could at the same time have the enter key prompt a direct integer scaler. This would seem consistent with other features, such as the regeneration.

Re: Editor Request

Why do we have to hit _k every time we want to use the dilation machine?

Re: Editor Request

I just picked K because it was one of the few unused letters and fit with skew. On that note, Q might make more sense...

S for Size is taken
R for Resize
E for Enlarge
D for Dilate
X for eXpand
C for contract

The editor already has lots of assignments!

Re: Editor Request

Sounds like a cool feature. Do you really need to skew, or would a simple enlarge/reduce be enough?

BTW, I'm working on some really cool editor features for making bot nav zones, including some funky new snapping options. This _might_ also open the door to previewing the exact location of turrets and forcefields.

Re: Editor Request

I don't really need skew, that's just what the adjustment tool is always called in graphic editors...Stretch & Skew. I'll be curious to see the other new editing toys!

Re: Editor Request

Good, because I already have a UI element for entering a single value (mag factor, in this case), but not for entering 2 things...
