Bitfighter Weekly Parties

UPDATE: Times have been picked after results of survey came through. Check it out here. Discuss the game nights "system" in this thread, including feedback/complaints, designated servers, announce your long-awaited arrival, time shifts (due to holidays etc), etc.

------------------------------

What do people think about starting up weekly games again?

At the designated time, players go into an open server and game on. If someone would like, they may host a server, but public servers are fine too.

Nobody shows? Hang out for maybe 15 minutes to allow for latecomers. Still no one? That's okay, try again next week.

No prizes, no competition, just friendly Bitfighter gaming.

I propose two timeslots per week, to give players options and because, let's face it, playing only once in a week kinda sucks. ;) Please input your selections here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1H41gnY ... t=openform I will close this survey in, let's say, a week? Sunday, October 20 at 11:59 PM EDT. [EDIT: Survey CLOSED. PM me if you still want to take it.] I plan to publish the results within a few days of closing the survey.

Unfortunately we only had three tonight, wonder why? I did come a few minutes late, but I was expecting Friday to be the big night regardless.

I'll be on and off for the evening if anyone wants to show! :)

Well I'm horribly sick for one thing ... lol.

That said a little more warning would've been good. I won't lie that I forgot. Certainly didn't forget the first one though.

I posted the main data in the announcement thread, but here's some statistics:

- Friday had most votes (66%)
- 2nd place and 3rd place were Wednesday (33%) and Saturday (~20%), respectively with Thursday coming in the rear (~10%)
- Nobody suggested Monday, Tuesday, or Sunday
- Aside from one entry, everyone suggested times of 7pm edt or later
- Most suggested time was 8pm (~75%), next most was 10pm (~50%)
- Favorite game type tied between CTF (33%) and Zone Control (33%), with Nexus, Core, and Bitmatch making up the final third.

This was fun! Next time, more people take forum surveys, please! ;)

For whatever reason, I've observed that a lot of activity tends to occur right around 5:00 PM Eastern. The past two Sundays have had large games at those times, and both Tuesday and Thursday this week as well. Just an FYI.

You are welcome to your opinion. It's worth considering. In fact, I'm not completely sure implementing game nights will do a vastly better job of attracting new players or sustaining growth than not.

However, there are reasons to continue to host game nights, even if they don't produce groundbreaking numbers. Newcomers need a time to check out the game if there is nobody on when they show up initially. Plus, consistent game sessions can help to ensure player participation during slow weeks.

More importantly, there's no reason why we can't foster both - get on whenever you feel like it and still participate in the game nights you want to attend. I think a balance of both is healthy for the community.

Yes, well put Lark Lord. Just explaining my personal stance; to be honest, I'm glad not everyone shares my stance, I'd prefer if people enjoyed your parties!
