Should we greenlight this?

This has been the question for a really long time but 020 is around the corner (I think) but once it comes out, should we Greenlight this game to raise popularity?

I'm not familiar with the term, what does it mean?

Steam! Greenlight is when developers put a game on Steam and people get to decide if it deserves to stay on Steam

Re: Should we greenlight this?

If we were going to do that I'd recommend us selecting only the very most competitive and polished maps to be hosted. Maybe just the Bitfighter core maps.

Then we can just have a testing server, though we may now need Player limits because imagine two thousand people playing at once.

Re: Should we greenlight this?

bitfighter maps are outdone by some other maps! i tend to prefer close quarters with multille vectors of movement.

Highway uniquely uses speedzones and despite being assymetrical this does not negatively affect gameplay
Foiled is fun capture the flag, i prefer it in blue and red teams.
theres a circular rabbit map with a bunch of blocks in the middle - i think ninja bunny? it beats the standard rabbit map but might not scale up in player number
cant think of a core map i enjoyed.
Play my new level! Two different teams fight over a nexus: One mainly defends while the other attacks! is fun

Re: Should we greenlight this?

Not yet I still think we should wait till 1. a exp 2. rating and 3. single player mode is implemented 1 and 2 being the important ones it will give players a reason to keep playing and stick around longer....

Agree though, we should wait to at least have this whole leveling/exp thing set up.

Re: Should we greenlight this?

I also think a Elo system of some sort in bitfighter would be great so not only would there be no cap for leveling from exp people would also be competing for the highest rating!

That would be a good problem to have...

Re: Should we greenlight this?

I think a General server structure overhaul would help this but the developers Zap me down every time....

Maybe im wrong maybe a server structure change is a bad thing?

At this time it's not needed.

Re: Should we greenlight this?

At this time no but if we suddenly get 500000 players yes.

1. Default player limit per server of maybe 20 (prevents crashing.)
2. Server list filtering (easy searching.)
3. Auto uploading and saving to pleiades of maps. To make all maps accessible)
4. Uploading of all maps from pleiades. ( to make all maps accessible.)
5. Global servers with "rooms" instead of player hosted ones. (stable server structure.)

Just to name a few.

Re: Should we greenlight this?

If we suddenly get 5M players, I'll hire a dev to get this all implemented quickly.

Re: Should we greenlight this?

Problem is wouldn't it be better to do it now then later when there is a crises is needed?

It is odd that often games can fail or succeed spectacularly early on and influcing the outcome is important.
