No, it is the relative paths that will allow for smoother building. Everyone will download things in a different place and have a different environment. Absolute paths anchor you to a single config. We want everything to be relative.
Re: bitfighter custom server
Sorry, my mistake, i meant relative paths. I must have had a brain cramp when I typed that. The reason was I saw one of the paths was still /users/ryan/bitfighter/...
But yes, changing all of them to relative paths.
(edited my last post to correct it)

Re: bitfighter custom server
@Z: Ryan says we can delete the files you asked about. Could you do the following for me:
1. Download a new clean copy of the game from SVN
2. Delete the files you think should be deleted
3. Zip it all up, and email to me (use the address in the contact section of the website, or post somewhere online)
4. Update your compile-for-Mac instructions based on the improved file structure.
Thanks!

Re: bitfighter custom server
Sure, and I apologize for the late reply, as I had a 3 day vacation from my computer, screeching progress to a halt.
Also, the new clean version will always be in the trunk folder right?

Re: bitfighter custom server
No; usually the trunk is the bleeding edge not-yet-tested version. Lately, it has been the same code as in the 13a branch, but the branch has the official latest and (supposedly) stable version.
