You just lost weight.

i think what he means to say that you "technically" you lose the weight of the air exhaled , which would be close to nothing.

Re: Blarg.
Atoms have mass and weight. It's just very small. Just FYI.

So it's that obvious or we just don't think enough?
One says obvious things when one or another doesn't understand obvious things. Simple is better than complex. The simple knowledge of atoms is what makes one understand the entire topic.

Firstly, "weight" is a gravity specific term used very commonly. "Weight" is the amount of gravity pulling on your mass. If you were to inhale as much helium as possible, (which is downright idiotic) it would probably decrease your weight, because of atmospheric being of a denser composition than that of the composition of air (or gas) in your lungs. So I think Sam is right.

We breathing normal air, the environment is normal and not extremely filled with specific elements. Everything has weight and mass. That's a fact. Weight isn't commonly misused imo, only students (that are learning science) commonly misuse it.
When you burp, you exhaust air; in doing this your lungs contract. Therefore you have less mass in your lungs, thus less mass and less weight. Usually if you have less mass, you have less weight, but not in certain conditions. (mass and weight can be correlated)
Re: Blarg.
You can also lose weight by doing nothing.

Re: Blarg.
BlackBird wrote:You can also lose weight by doing nothing.
That is a very vague statement and there is no existence of nothing in the science world. Nothing is something in certain perceptions. Plus your statement leads to nothing. Moving to a different planet to change your weight is "something," the act of moving.

All motion is relative.

Re: Blarg.
Couldn't say it better myself.
Re: Blarg.
Meaning, relative to myself, (my body as a whole) if i am not moving, (doing nothing) I technically lose weight.

Re: Blarg.
You just trying to sound witty. Time is a huge factor in what you are speaking about. The time of your cells dying and other stuff like your organs burning calories (thus lose weight). So...someday we will all die and turn to dust and heat, but not just yet. Instead of speaking complex philosophy, just talk simple science. The maker of this world made it simple, we made it complex.

And how is this related to burps?

I was contradicting your hypotheses of standing still while losing weight. If your hypothese/statement is off-topic then we both are. All ideas are relative to other ideas. For example, you came up with your hypothese from another's hypothese. All motion is relative isn't related to burps imo, but I'll play with it though.
I like random's post.

Didn't you say that everything has mass/weight? A single hair or flake of skin, by your definition, has weight. So by having a single flake of skin fall off your body, before you exhale the products of burned energy, then you would have technically lost weight by doing nothing.
P.S. this argument is getting really stupid.

Which is how I was contradicting your hypothese (I said in previous posts). TIME is a major factor. It is time that is responsible for losing weight when doing nothing, not all motion is relative. The theory of relativity has nothing to do with weight loss.

No one can "Do Nothing" for more then a few days, people have to eat and drink to survive, which make people gain weight, especially when eating foods that have too much fat in it.

Blackbird is thinking more in a exact amount of weight change (even if it's very small) perspective. He's just being technical.
Also, you used the wrong then. We all do it except when we care.

Or I'm right and you wrong, but you don't understand what you're talking about. You mixed up a theory about relativity with a burp conversation. How off subject can one be, especially when he or she declares another person is off-topic is just bizarre.

If you burp enough, you inhale water and drown, thus die and gain more weight. (not a unlimited source of oxygen) He said in water, not on water. (just a joke)

I think breathing makes us lose weight/gain weight, except underwater. That's why I hold my breath when my weight is measured.

Re: Blarg.
Technically, since air floats in this atmosphere, and hot air is lighter than normal air, any inhalation actually makes you lighter, because it fills you with hot air.
Above or below water.
Above or below water.

That's density, not weight. And yes all states of matter are affected by density.
Density, mass, and weight are all different, but correlated.
Re: Blarg.
No matter where air is on this planet, it is floating. Whether it's inside you or outside you.

I like to think air molecules are bouncing around than "floating." This is how air pressure is created, so much air molecules pushing or bouncing on a given volume.
