Seedboxes

I know this crowd skews younger, but does anyone here use a seedbox? Just wondering. I'm debating getting one eventually.

I may have a green thumb...

Re: Seedboxes

A seedbox is essentially a remote server with an ultra high speed connection and bittorrent software. The idea is that you download torrents onto your seedbox (very, very quickly), which can then upload to other users and maintain a high upload/download ratio. When you want to use the files you've downloaded, you transfer them to your home computer via ftp.

Pros:
-Extremely fast downloads
-Extremely fast uploads provide good ratios
-Don't have to save old files on home computer for seeding
-Less bandwidth use at your home address
-Don't have to run torrent software constantly

Cons:
-Monthly fee
-Have to transfer all files before you can use them
-Have to manage remote seedbox
