I'm gonna have to agree with Bob here. I really understand what this would be used for.

A pointless at best feature, but more likely dangerous and bad, and sam is going to go ahead and put forth the effort to code it in.

OKAY...Now I'm in it again... :|

Like I said on one of the old posts, the mini map is a tool that has the opportunity of using it or not. If you think the mini map would give you a disadvantage, simply don't use it; therefore, options should have the yes-and-no switch for mini map. This simple option makes both sides happy...SIGH*

ALSO, the mini-map should be on a corner, rather than being a big vertical bar to make the center of the screen the actual center of the game camera.

Also, the mini map doesn't extend your area of view unless your monitor is small. Pretty much, it's like a mini "c" map that has the choice of being used or not by going to options. Such a simple idea, not sure how it can be as dangerous as random weapons.

Examples of a mini map on a corner just in case no one understands it.
LoL has it on bottom right corner and star wars has it on top right corner, which is the most popular placement for mini maps that I seen (I like the LoL mini-map).

Re: BitFighter Mini Map

What I would like to know us HOW the mini map is a tool at all. And the examples of a mini map you showed us are games that need one because they don't have something like a C-map.

Re: BitFighter Mini Map

Most games that have a mini map are 3d games. Bitfighter, which is a 2d game, is like the whole screen is a minimap. If it were to have a minimap it would be the equivalent to having 2 monitors displaying the same thing.

I see your point. If you look at the LoL mini-map it shows the whole map, but you only have sight on certain parts of it where your allies and you are. However, "c" map does this task. The only benefit of the mini-map is to show the blueprint of the whole map, without pressing C. Also, it doesn't show parts that you have no sight of.

So if yall don't feel it's necessary to use time to make a mini-map, it's fine by me honestly. :)

FYI, Runescape has a map of the whole game, but the mini map only shows a small portion of the map and the game doesn't actually need the map to move around. It's just nice to know what direction you are heading by only using a single glance.
If you ever played racing games before (2D and 3D) you'll see what I mean.

If you don't like this idea, please just stop posting. You don't need to keep bumping an idea you disagree with. The support for this feature is clearly divided, and if you don't like it, you don't need to bring it any more attention. Leave it alone and it will sink to obscurity among the 150-odd other ideas in this subforum that haven't made it into the game.

Re: BitFighter Mini Map

I think a mini map is a decent idea. It's just that is the time required to make a mini-map worth it? That's up to yall programmers. ;)
Nothing wrong with two maps. :D

Re: BitFighter Mini Map

If there were to be a minimap, it would either take up too much screen space, or it would be extremely small. If it were to be added it wouldn't be worth much unless it could see that aren't in your proximity. If it could it would take a huge chunk out of gameplay in gamemodes like rabbit and zone control and would render sensor useless. I hate this idea and will no longer post on this thread.

Re: BitFighter Mini Map

Sensor enhances your area of sight, the mini map does not. So there would still be a use for it.

Well, that would depend on exactly what the minimap showed. Perhaps the minimap could reveal something that the traditional view cannot.

Then it goes back to what LA said:

The arguments are going into a cycle...careful people.
More or less...we are all saying that the mini map needs to be balance to where it's useful and doesn't persuade sensor to be useless.
