Retro Level Archive

I spent several hours tonight scouring the unpowered torquepowered forums for ancient zap! levels. Most of these were made back around 2005, some by active members within this very community! I haven't opened any of them in the editor, but most of them host without any problems. Anyway! These have all been posted publicly in the past, and I see this as community history. So, assuming this one 46 KB zip file won't overburden watusimoto's server, here is the retro archive!

(Also known as 44 levels of fun).

14 - 22 are mine, and I recommend not playing any of them.
Just sayin'.

Well I don't think any of them are awesome, but they're kind of a fun time capsule.

Re: Retro Level Archive

I love the old maps for the same reason I love new players. When you are in the present, in your own mind, you lose perspective. Pulling in new players, new ideas, old players, old ideas (particularly looking at what we *used* to think was cool XD), gives a pretty interesting view on what Bitfighter is. Also tying in the best ideas from all of those sources could make for some pretty awesome maps.

Anyway, even with all that said, I think some of these maps have some pretty good gameplay potential as well.
BAM! I'm back.

Do these include the missing stock levels?

Re: Retro Level Archive

These are old user levels posted on the garagegames forums. I don't think you'll find what you're looking for here, but which maps are you talking about? I can only think of Eden and Carrot Crazy.

The missing stock levels from Zap!? I will edit this post and put them here. Right now I'm at school.

They don't belong in this thread - if you're going to post them, create a new topic.

Re: Retro Level Archive

We'll have to pick and choose -- some of the levels are pretty bad or just experiments and aren't appropriate for Pleiades. But there are some gems; I'll see if I can get to it soon!

Re: Retro Level Archive

Please do *not* upload levels that are not your own. We have a 'pleiades' user for levels that are owned by someone without a forums account, otherwise I'll have to import them special as a particular user.

In fact, I have an import script that rebuilt much of the levels in pleiades after the latest server crash. I could probably repurpose that for large-scale level imports.
