emotional complaints

just wrote this up, what do you thikn? add your own, but they need to be true like mine

bitfighter

emotional complaints
asteroids are uncool and are just in the game because of the game Asteroids.
-- they were cool in that game, but not in Bitfighter
the standard bot only uses one weapon and shield, it is lame
-- you should make a bot that is different every time, that would be so cool
the background is always the same in every level, no custom backgrounds
-- at least let us choose stars on/off in the graphics options
the screen always scrolls, sometimes I like a not scrolling screen
-- the c map doesn't scroll on small maps, why not the game screen
all ships are the same shape
-- what if instead of color the team has a different ship, or even both
when i capture zones in zone control I hate the flashing
-- please fix this, it ruins my zone control map for me
Play my new level! Two different teams fight over a nexus: One mainly defends while the other attacks! is fun

Type "/linewidth 0" in-game and BAM, they are gone.

Asteroids are ALWAYS cool!!!

We have a bot that uses seekers, but the navigation got broke somehow... it will be reintroduced in the next release (or, probably beforehand in the forums).

There is some experimental code in the codebase to render the background as hexagons. Perhaps we should expose that and add a few other background options to try out?

It's just the way the game works! Most maps are big enough to require scrolling.

Tried it, it was lame.

I would not be opposed to an INI option to disable this, or, possibly, a way for level makers to disable it on levels with tons of zones, where I agree it is a distraction.

For a limited time only! You can try changing the INI option: 'OldGoalFlash' to see a sinusoidal flash (client-side only, may disappear in the future).

Skybot uses triple! And cloak! I changed Skybot to my default bot :D

It ruins the map?

I can't play the game, it makes me almost dizzy

Skybot fights good but is annoying when he talks
-- bots shouldnt talk, let people talk

Everything Skybot says is determined in the first few lines of code. Simply take the phrases out and he won't say things.

Why don't you like asteroids? They present a unique challenge to the player - hostile objects that move but don't attack. Bots attack and move. Turrets attack but don't move. Mines don't move nor attack. Asteroids "complete" the game. Here's a crummy table:

Hostiles---Attack?-----Move?
Bot--------Yes--------Yes
Turret------Yes--------No
Asteroid----No---------Yes
Mine-------No---------No

I think they're cool!

I think this is just a limitation of the game design itself. For a fixed screen the map would either have to be pretty small or we'd have to zoom out a lot. Most maps tend to be larger than what fits in a screen, and so unless we want to play zoomed out I don't think this is feasible.

On small enough maps I've played before entirely on commanders map. Maybe make it so weapon fire can be seen from the Cmap?

Weapon-fire visibility on the commander's map is a feature of having the sensor module equipped.

I tried playing using sensor and the c map but I didn't really like it

Ok, but not perfect. My OldGoalFlash was set to Yes anyway, changed it to no finally. The flash is improved, but it still flashes. I would rather it either not flash at all.

The next release will probably have an INI option to disable goal flashing altogether... just for you!

You misunderstood.

Attack = actively track or engage with the enemy.

Turrets track enemies. Bots follow and engage with enemies. Mines do neither, asteroids do neither. Mines still hurt the enemy, but that's because they're a hostile object and not because they attack.
