00:00:00watusimotoI was thinking we could do a system-specific cursor -- skylark's always complaining because the mac cursor is backwards
00:00:00raptori have long ago resigned myself to trying to get any graphical consistency on linux... evar
00:02:00CrazyLinuxNerd has to take the trash out.. brb.
00:02:00sam686when program app is buzy, i kind of like hourglass better then a spinning blue-green circle..
00:02:00raptorwell i like the bouncy icon
00:03:00raptorand mac users probably like the color wheel
00:03:00raptor:)
00:07:00sam686using program specific cursors might somewhat of prevent the use of custom cursors in game...
00:07:00sam686i mean, custom cursors set by windows control panel..
00:24:00raptoryou can compile fine sam?
00:25:00sam686yes, compiles fine for me (or else i won't have screenshot the cursor pointer differences)

01:35:00raptorok got it to compile
01:35:00raptorwhat am i looking for with the cursor?
01:38:00sam686umm, maybe you say there was some conflict with linux, i think...
01:39:00raptorhow do I trigger the new cursors in game?
01:41:00sam686editor, move some objects?
01:41:00raptori see four pointed arrow?
01:41:00raptoris that it?
01:41:00sam686yes
01:41:00raptorok
01:41:00raptorcool
01:42:00raptorok
01:42:00raptordinner time!
01:42:00raptorbe back soon

02:05:00BFLogBot - Commit cd47270881c5 | Author: buckyballreaction | Log: Fix Cursor compiling on linux - remove old-named Cursors files - minor header optimization
02:54:00raptorsam686: does that last commit compile for you OK?
03:15:00sam686does compile ok.. with a few warnings...
04:12:00raptori cannot pick up flags and spawn points in the editor
04:13:00sam686have the same problem, can't pickup flagsSpawns or ship spawn points..
04:14:00sam686but, it can be picked up for new ones that been added..
04:14:00raptorreally?
04:14:00sam686yes, but not the ones that been loaded from level...
04:15:00raptoryou're right
04:20:00raptoralso, editor still crashes with that one level...
04:22:00raptorsam686: did you have changes to joystick_presets.ini?
04:24:00sam686http://208.107.52.15/bitfighter/maximized_editor_size_problem.png
04:24:00raptorhow did you do that?
04:25:00sam686problem gets worse, mouse coordinate is way off... this happens when maximized, and entered into editor
04:25:00sam686somehow, entering into editor tryes to resize window..
04:26:00sam686also, it resizes to a wrong size, why does it resizes to a different size?
04:26:00raptoroh wow, it does the same for me, too
04:28:00raptorlooks like it is because SDL doesn't interface with the window manager very well...
04:36:00BFLogBot - Commit 30cd0556d939 | Author: sam8641 | Log: Fix some compile warnings
04:38:00raptorwow, so when you maximize - it calles the SDL_RESIZE event continuously...
04:39:00sam686maybe thats why my bitfighter freezes on my linux....
04:40:00sam686it will help if windows users can read it using notepad (which is the default program for most windows xp) http://208.107.52.15/bitfighter/line_ending_problem.png
04:41:00sam686bitfighter.ini is already using windows line ending so no problem there.. (but not joystick_presets.ini)
04:41:00raptorhahahaha
04:41:00raptorgood catch...
04:41:00raptorwant me to do it? or do you have presets to change?
04:42:00sam686i can change line endings, and change presets..
04:42:00raptorok
04:42:00raptoryep, bitfighter becomes unresponsive with maximizing...
04:43:00raptorbecause of continuous resize events
04:44:00sam686i wonder why bitfighter on windows doesn't freeze when maximized? but does freeze maximized on linux
04:44:00raptormine doesn't freeze, it just slows down a lot
04:44:00raptori bet it depends on the CPU type and how it can handle it...
04:45:00sam686i don't see any slowdown at all, and i am on a 5 times slower CPU..
04:45:00raptorinteresting
04:54:00sam686sometimes, when i slowly push my analog stick to the left slowly in menus, it actually does "LEFT" 5 times in super quickly speed.. its my poor analog stick going in a noisy up and down...
04:54:00raptoroh no...
04:54:00raptoris that due to the age of your stick? or the code?
04:55:00sam686oh well, my analog of one of my controller is kind of failing, is kind of old dual action, but I do have another dual action, and a ps3 sixaxis controller..
04:58:00raptoroh man - maximizing also sends continuous window manager events...
05:02:00raptorit could be that since you have newer SDL - it doesn't crash as often...
05:02:00sam686it can simply be just a plain difference between windows vs linux...
05:02:00raptorvery true
05:06:00raptorwell, i'm going to head in - good night

16:20:00raptorgood morning!
16:23:00CrazyLinuxNerdGood day :-)
16:25:00raptorI think sam686 changed some of PS3 buttons around - maybe the presets are better now
16:27:00sam686it seems like ButtonStart is not much use in bitfighter ButtonBack is used to bring up the menu, and go back a menu...
16:28:00sam686also, right now in bitfighter 016, buttonStart seem to enter a menu, and go down a menu at the same time...
16:31:00raptortwo actions?
16:42:00sam686i have a problem with visual 2008 hangs (stops responding forever) on right click, while its updating intellisense...
16:48:00raptorblech
16:50:00CrazyLinuxNerdsam686: When it locks up can't you just hit ctrl+alt+backspace and restart windows X server?
16:51:00sam686visual 2008 hang problem is on my windows xp (not linux)
16:51:00CrazyLinuxNerdYeah, but can't windows also restart gui like that?
16:51:00sam686but it only hangs the program ( i have to force quit that program)
16:52:00sam686this is what ctrl + alt + backspase does: inserts a character:
16:52:00CrazyLinuxNerd:-S should restart Xorg.
16:53:00sam686i am on windows xp, nothing happens
16:53:00CrazyLinuxNerdoh okay, fair enough :-) worth a try.
16:53:00CrazyLinuxNerdPS: I don't know windows very well..
17:05:00sam686UIMenus.cpp line 561, whats that "enterAdvancesItem" doing there? MenuUserInterface::processKeys appears to not get run with keyboard enter, only when pressing BUTTON_START or BUTTON_1
17:05:00raptornot sure...

17:43:00raptori didn't see protocol 15ers all week last week
17:44:00CrazyLinuxNerdraptor: I thought I saw a few people playing yesterday, and today even?
17:44:00raptorthey are not protocol 15ers
17:44:00CrazyLinuxNerd016ers?
17:44:00raptorprotocol
17:44:00sam686hey look, http://bitfighter.org/bitfighterStatus.json there is a "protocolVersion": 28 server...
17:45:00raptorhaha cracatoa is behind the times
17:45:00raptorCrazyLinuxNerd: protocol is an internal number given to the network compatibility between bitfighter versions
17:45:00sam686looking at this version list, http://208.107.52.15/bitfighter/VERSION.TXT
17:45:00raptoryes, thanks sam686
17:45:00raptorthat was what i was looker for
17:45:00raptorlooking
17:46:00CrazyLinuxNerdAh, I thought they were relevent to each release, say 014 would have protocal 014, 015, would have 015 etc..
17:46:00sam686not sure, that is how i found it in code history
17:46:00sam686its probably because of seperate branch stuff...
17:47:00sam686i think i remember there was 013f i think, in a seperate branch...
17:48:00CrazyLinuxNerdSo.. your looking for people playing with bitfighter 010? :/
17:48:00raptoryeah
17:48:00CrazyLinuxNerdwhy would anyone be on 010 now? :/
17:48:00raptora couple of times in the past few weeks a ton of 010 players start playing
17:48:00sam686one day, there was like 10 players all using very old version...
17:49:00CrazyLinuxNerdweird
17:49:00CrazyLinuxNerdI don't see any good reasons, or profit for that matter of using a version of bitfighter that old :/
17:49:00raptorwell, we suspect that they are installed on a school computer lab somewhere
17:50:00raptorso people may not be able to update
17:50:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah probably
17:50:00CrazyLinuxNerdsomeone needs to tell their sys admin to update xD
17:50:00raptorbut sam686 and I got 010 to compile and as soon as we see them we'll try and talk to them
17:50:00CrazyLinuxNerdor, it may be on purpose, to prevent students talking to say, other people?
17:51:00raptori still see them in the lobby chat
17:51:00raptorsaw
17:51:00CrazyLinuxNerddid they say anything?
17:51:00raptornope
17:51:00CrazyLinuxNerdare those the ones with like "your mom" and "i_like_chicken" names?
17:51:00raptornope
17:52:00raptoryouc an seet he current protocols here: http://bitfighter.org/bitfighterStatus.json
17:52:00CrazyLinuxNerd just notices his server not listed.. meaning it's down...
17:52:00raptorhaha
17:54:00CrazyLinuxNerdsorted :-)
17:54:00CrazyLinuxNerdwonder how long it's been down.. i didn't even notice
17:55:00CrazyLinuxNerdis it still possible to get ahold of this version of bf?
17:55:00CrazyLinuxNerdSVN: 80 , 0.91 , , Version: prerelease 7, rev 71
17:55:00raptorumm
17:56:00CrazyLinuxNerdthis version sounds amusing :-)
17:56:00raptorso, my SVN to HG conversion followed a straight path from SVN rev0 to the current
17:56:00CrazyLinuxNerdSVN: 84 , 9, 83, Version: unofficial blah blah, build 666
17:56:00raptorand watusimoto did some weird branching stuff
17:56:00raptorand some of his branches were lost
17:56:00raptorbut
17:56:00raptoryou can get it still from sourceforge, i think
17:57:00CrazyLinuxNerdcool.. but would it compile..
17:57:00CrazyLinuxNerd?
17:57:00raptorhttp://zap.svn.sourceforge.net/
17:57:00raptorcompile?
17:57:00raptorno
17:57:00raptorI had to fix lots of things
17:57:00raptorto get 010 to compile in linux
17:57:00raptorx86_64 didn't compile back then
17:57:00CrazyLinuxNerdah
17:57:00raptorso i spun up an i586 VM
17:58:00CrazyLinuxNerdi'm guessing x86_64 wasn't properly coded for back then?
17:58:00raptoryeah, who knows
17:58:00CrazyLinuxNerdwell someone does
17:58:00CrazyLinuxNerdxD
18:01:00sam686not sure, but for some reason all the players is like spread out everywhere.. http://bitfighter.org/bitfighterStatus.json
18:03:00sam686i saw names like
18:03:00sam686stopkickingmenoob and dontkickidiot after being in a server that was kicking players...
18:03:00raptorhaha
18:14:00raptorwe've had over 1000 commits since 015a!
18:16:00sam686i think many of those commits is SDL, lots of editor changes, joystick codes, no more win_do_not_distribute, ...
18:16:00raptorso much SDL work...
18:19:00sam686while we have custom cursor going, how about using a blank cursor instead of SDL_hidepointer for a problem with hiding mouse causes pointer to go back to the middle?
18:20:00sam686it is SDL_ShowCursor(SDL_DISABLE) that may cause pointer go back to the middle in windows xp, fullscreen..
19:37:00raptorsure...
19:37:00raptorthat sounds like a good hack
19:38:00raptorthen we don't need SDL_ShowCursor anymore :)
