03:31:30raptorFYI: some really crazy code here (for fun): http://www.ioccc.org/years.html
03:55:19ZoomberFALSE APPLE: tri-tone ringtone is NOT a tri-tone
03:55:34Zoomberits a simple octave with a 5th arpegiated within the middle of it
03:55:51Zoomberso technically you can call it an *Augmented* tri-tone
03:55:54Zoomberbut NO, your wrong
03:56:47raptorummm
03:56:49raptorrant?
03:57:39Zoomberyou know i love to
04:03:49sam686i think intel have some opengl graphics hardware decellerator... because of very slow readPixels, and now i find glCopyTexSubImage (to copy backbuffer to texture) even slower, thats on my intel 945, and that makes my video recording on opengl games slow... (thats for my small laptop)
04:04:04sam686My desktop with Radeon 9200 have a fast readPixels, and super fast glCopyTexSubImage
04:04:13raptoryeah the 945 always had opengl bugs...
04:04:37raptorcould it be the drivers?
04:05:06Zoomberits well
04:05:23Zoombersorry, super-sneeze
04:05:24sam686things might be different, on SDL 2.0 (then before where some might have complain about pressing enter while holding down alt)
04:05:44raptorare we talking about 3 different topics here?
04:05:45Zoomberraptor: that's just the 945's personality. nobody's gonna change him
04:05:59sam686how that appear? i might hape pressed up arrow on accident
04:06:24raptorhaha
04:07:24sam686linux seems to have slower graphice (for intel 945) then windows
04:07:35raptormust be the drivers, then
04:07:49sam686probably the drivers
04:08:31sam686but, its an old intel 945 (though my radeon 9200 is older) i don't think i will find any latest drivers (i probably have the latest)
04:10:13raptorwhat distribution are you runnign again? (version?)
04:10:33Zoomberas in.. sam windows xp? me mac
04:10:40sam686for linux, ubuntu, but i haven't test on linux, only windows
04:10:42raptorsam686's linux
04:10:51Zoomberi thought sam's desktop was windows
04:11:05sam686i mostly use windows, its faster for my old computers..
04:11:24sam686mostly, faster hardware graphics
04:11:37Zoombershould upgrade to windows 7 then...better designed for weaker computers than xp
04:12:21raptori've found that windows xp is still about 25% faster than windows 7 on weaker computers
04:12:24sam686i might as well get a new computer, instead of upgrading... upgrading does not speed up the CPU (which makes a difference on compiling speed)
04:13:11Zoombernonono raptor, my almost imbootable acer netbook runs much more cleanly and faster with 7
04:13:11raptoryep
04:13:28raptorreally?
04:13:30raptorhuh
04:13:39Zoombermac was even faster though...so maybe it was a fluke
04:13:39raptori'm thinking about older 32bit desktops
04:13:44Zoomberit is..
04:13:48Zoomberoh
04:13:53Zoomberwell, an old 32 bit netbook
04:13:57Zoomberwith that intel card
04:14:04Zoomberor some sort of intel GMA
04:14:08Zoombermy macbook had the 950 gma
04:14:22sam686also, in order to use windows 7 on my old computer (with fancy aero graphics) i would need to upgrade to a newer graphics card, if there is some newer AGP cards out there (my old computer don't have PCI express)
04:15:19sam686but... My radeon 9200 AGP and radeon 9250 PCI is good enough, and windows XP appears good enough for my old omputers...
04:16:19Zoombercould disable aero graphics?
04:16:33BFLogBot - Commit f14a5a85cb9d | Author: buckyballreaction | Log: Bigger Cube ship for fun
04:16:41sam686yes, but then windows 7 wouldn't look as good when off..
04:17:19kodaws has joined
04:17:25Zoomberwould be faster though
04:17:35Zoomberbut, can still switch to old classic theme, even on 7
04:18:00sam686i guess DirectX 10 requires windows vista or 7 (and direct3D 10 graphics card) to work
04:19:18raptori think you can hack dx10 on windows xp - i saw an article on it once
04:19:37Zoomberoh im sure
04:19:41sam686my desktop have an old TV capture card (480i resolution), i will likely keep using my desktop as long as it still works..
04:19:44Zoomberall it takes is a google
04:20:03Zoombertv capture? like you can capture cable on it or export signal?
04:20:28sam686yes, it can receive tv channels and record
04:22:38sam686crazy google home page looking like a zipper...

04:31:12raptorwell good night folks
04:33:30sam686i can maybe even show you a screenshot of tv out (graphics) straight to tv in (capture)
04:36:23sam686i am showing you that screenshot...

04:41:43sam686http://sam686.maxhushahn.com/upload/tv_720x480_grab04623.jpg
04:44:44sam686one problem is interlaced signal will cause some horizontal lines when things are moving... http://sam686.maxhushahn.com/upload/tv_720x480grab08885.jpg

05:25:19Zoomberwell the picture is cool;\
05:28:07Zoomberraptor: an idea of mine now is to just run windows xp through my second monitor, instead of using it for mac
05:29:28Zoomberoh i guess he's gone
05:29:33Zoombernot sure how to fix the lag it gives when i host it

15:32:15HeyubI sometimes wonder if cleverbot replies before reading the entire post. lol
15:32:24raptorhe totally does
15:32:49raptorhis gift is in appearing clever at first glance
15:33:05raptorfalls apart second glance...
15:33:23Heyublol
15:35:12raptortime to slice the thread up... i guess
15:44:35raptori ruthlessly deleted the 'meta' discussion posts
15:44:47raptori should have put them in the trash bin... i keep forgetting we have one
15:45:57HeyubI've been to stricter forums, to be honest.
15:46:55raptori've never actually given out punishments (like moderated posts <-- that's a fun one I hear)
15:47:02raptori just delete and move on

15:48:15HeyubSorry, pressed the wrong hotkey.
15:55:21raptorI wonder if there is a way for me to crash the extra two 'Supernova' servers cluttering our server list...
17:36:41kodaws Quit (Quit: Sto andando via)
17:43:17HeyubHas it ever been considered to add more to the background? (nebulas, planets, suns, greater variety of stars)
17:43:31raptorinteresting idea
17:43:52raptori have thought of it, but not discussed it with anyone
17:44:21raptormost of my inspiration comes from the game naev (see: http://naev.org)
17:44:36raptoroooo
17:44:56raptorloads of high school players online
17:45:15raptormy favorite name this time: (_(crayola(_(>
17:45:40HeyubI've played naev, heard you and watu talking about it awhile ago.
17:51:40raptorit a very visually appealing game when flying around
17:52:04raptornot sure how that would fit with bitfighter though - we kind of like to stay with the vector graphics/retro feel
17:52:27raptormaybe a wireframe planet or sun in the background? :)
17:52:28HeyubYeah, come to think of it, it would be kind of odd to see a realistic looking planet in zap.
17:53:24HeyubThe wireframe planet could be cool
17:55:01raptorsomething here maybe?: https://www.google.com/search?q=wireframe+planet&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch
17:56:39HeyubVery possible, you might want it to be a different color than blue so it isnt mistaken for walls.
18:03:57HeyubHmm...
18:13:21raptordid you know you can make the stars less parallaxy?
18:13:28raptorthere's an option in the INI
18:14:13HeyubI didn't know that, good to know.
18:27:50HeyubWhat would you think of something like this for a sun? http://box.com/s/0ab641c04c99fb44a73d
18:29:51raptorare you thinking of the wireframe of that shape? something solid like that may seem out of place...
18:35:23HeyubI was thinking adding a little transparancy, but I could make it wireframe.
18:35:45raptoroh, you made it?
18:35:47raptorneat!
18:37:21Heyublol Only took a minute to do
18:38:06raptori think we should discuss the extra background objects with watusimoto before we actually do to much work
