12:56:51raptori think any crashing bugs should be marked as 'Critical' right?
12:56:56raptor(in Google Code)
13:03:24raptorzero official games played last week - that's depressing

13:06:18SkybaxI think that statistic is buggy
13:06:25SkybaxCause I played official games
13:30:20Watusimotoany crashing bug is critical
13:30:24Watusimotoin my opinion
13:30:37Watusimotoso an idea I had -- would this be cool?
13:31:02raptorhi
13:31:05WatusimotoI've started tracking kill streaks, keeping track of the number of kills you have while you yourself have not been killed
13:31:08Watusimotohi
13:31:16WatusimotoI'm trying to decide what to do with it
13:31:28Watusimotoone idea is to make your name change color as your kill streak gets longer
13:31:29raptorisn't there an issue on that...
13:31:39Watusimotoso after, say 5 kills, your name starts to turn a bit red
13:31:47Watusimotothen every kill after that it gets redder
13:31:54raptorhmmm
13:31:57Watusimototo indicate you are on a streak
13:32:09Watusimotothen, say, after 10 kills, it is totally red
13:32:27raptorand giant big letters 'MMMMMONSTER KILLLLLLL' popup?
13:32:40Watusimotointeresting...
13:33:05WatusimotoI was thinking of a text effect with "5x kills", "10x kills" etc
13:33:24Watusimoto"MEGA KILLZ"
13:33:54raptorI just remember that UT would do things like that..
13:35:25Watusimotowhat happens when you click this link?
13:35:26Watusimotohttp://www.sharefest.me/c5484cdc
13:35:38Watusimoto(on a totally unrelated topic)
13:35:50raptor"Sorry this is only available for Chrome"
13:35:53Watusimotoha!
13:36:14WatusimotoI do seem to be running chrome...
13:36:21Watusimotook, no worries
13:36:31raptortrying chromium..
13:36:35Watusimotoanyone else out there want to click on that link...
13:36:48Watusimotowhoa... something popped up
13:37:18raptoruhh
13:37:34Watusimotoit appears my browser is now a server, somehow
13:37:45kaenmorning
13:37:48kaener
13:37:50kaenafternoon
13:37:52raptorin chromium, it 'works'
13:37:54Skybaxlol it just downloaded something
13:37:56kaenanyway that link gives me the reading
13:37:58raptorbut says i'm connected to 0 peers
13:37:59kaenreadme
13:38:05kaenI've got 4 peers
13:38:07SkybaxIt says I'm connected to 3 peers
13:38:12kaen3
13:38:25raptori'm not so special, i guess
13:38:25Watusimotoha, I just downloaded the file from myself
13:38:29SkybaxGJ
13:38:49kaenheh
13:38:51Watusimotoanwyay, this is an interesting site.
13:38:59Watusimotop2p within a browser
13:39:02raptorinteresting: in-browser p2p sharing over the new webrtc standards?
13:39:03kaenI like how it claims to be both P2P and anonymous
13:39:12SkybaxIt's Chome and Firefox
13:39:17raptornot like opera had built in bittorrent for like 5 years or anything...
13:39:30Watusimotobut this isn't built in
13:39:36Watusimotoit's just a web page
13:39:44raptorso, who handles the handshaking?
13:40:03Watusimotosharefest.me?
13:40:06kaenhas to be the host server, right?
13:40:29kaenmy firewall definitely isn't configured to accept incoming connections on anything but bitfighter
13:40:32raptorhttps://github.com/peer5/sharefest
13:41:16kaen"currently the peers are coordinated using an intelligent server"
13:41:53kaenso they should probably say it's *pretty* anonymous
13:42:11Watusimotoindeed
13:42:24Watusimotoexcept to get the file, you need to know the peers
13:42:31raptoruntil the FBI grabs the server from their datacenter
13:43:39raptorso we have to send the URL securely to each other..
13:44:00raptoryou guys ever tried 'jitsi'?
13:44:26Watusimotono
13:44:28raptorskype alternative with end-to-end encryption
13:44:52raptorit supposed to be able to piggy-back on GoogleTalk network, but I haven't gotten it to work..
13:45:11Watusimotolooks interesting
13:46:06Watusimotomultiplatofrm, nice
13:47:29Watusimotoso... names color coded by kill streak length... interesting, or no?
13:47:35SkybaxI like it
14:00:08raptorseems OK.. what about network transmission, via RPC?
14:01:59Watusimotonot sure...
14:02:11Watusimotoyou're not excited about it, though
14:02:17raptori don't remember how ClientInfo data gets transmitted..
14:02:50raptorwell, i always thought kill streaks were just fluff, but maybe that's because I never get them.. :)
14:02:58raptorbut maybe players want fluff
14:04:53Watusimotowell, are achievements fluff?
14:05:39Watusimotoalterantives for kill streaks:
14:05:54Watusimoto1) acheivements (10x, 20x, 50x?)
14:06:08Watusimoto2) text effects at certain levels (5x, 10x, 15x, ...)
14:06:26raptorhmm
14:06:27Watusimoto3) acknowledgement in the messages from the server
14:06:35Watusimotothat's all I got
14:07:09raptorhere's on eo fth eissues: https://code.google.com/p/bitfighter/issues/detail?id=137
14:07:28raptor(it seems my space bar thumb is slow..)
14:12:31Watusimotohe was proposing custom announcements (I'm opposed to the buffs and scoring enhancements, as they weould be difficult to fit into our gametypes)
14:16:19kaenI'm also against the buffs
14:16:47kaenI think it'd be neat to get a name color on kill streaks and have a little "yard sale!" style test popup when I multikill
14:16:58kaentext*
14:17:33kaenyes, it's fluff, but it adds to the thrill of being good at bitfighter
14:18:19kaenwhich is honestly not as thrilling as it should be imo :)
14:19:10raptorok, i agree with kaen
14:19:12raptor:)
14:29:03raptordoes anyone remember what I was working on before the BFLogBot rewrite?
14:29:03BFLogBotOoookay... this is making me nervous... take a deep *gasp* breath-- I can't breeeeathe! This is just a recording of someone breathing! It's not real! It's just making me more nervous!
14:55:00Watusimotook I'm starting off with name color starting to change at 5c
14:55:03Watusimoto5x
14:55:09Watusimotoand graduating up to 10x
14:55:33raptorsome gradual algorithm to go from yellow -> red?
14:55:43raptoror simple cutoffs
15:00:03WatusimotoI was thinking from gray to red
15:00:24raptorok
15:00:44raptoris that what the Color.interp() method sort of helps out with?
15:01:20Watusimotoit might be!
15:13:00Watusimotook, the easiest way to do this would be to transmit the current kill-streak number as part of the s2cKillMessage method. But that seems kind of dirty, and only applies to some of those messages (s2cKillMessage is also used for stuff like asteroid kills, where there is no killer involoved)
15:13:39Watusimotothe alternative would be to create a new s2c to transmit the kill streak number; though that seems kind of lame too
15:14:21Watusimotoand we'd have to send the name (which is already sent in s2cKillMessage), adding another byte or two
15:14:51raptorseems fine to me
15:21:06Watusimotooooh... I may have figured a way to do it with 0 bits!
15:21:31raptorsounds even better!
15:21:36Watusimotoindeed!
15:22:05Watusimotoso... when a remote player first comes into scope, we'll transmit the current kill streak count
15:22:29Watusimotowhen the s2cKillMessage message is sent, all clients will increase that for the killer by one
15:22:44Watusimotoand reset it for the victim
15:23:13Watusimotoit's foolproof! what could possibly go wrong?
15:24:33raptorso... client-side only?
15:24:40raptorwhat about initial update with a player joining mid-game?
15:25:03Watusimotocurrent count will be transmitted with initial ship packet
15:25:27Watusimotomy theory is that kill messages aer always sent
15:44:07Watusimotoso... when a new game starts, should kill streaks carry over, or be reset?
15:44:12Watusimotogametype might be different
15:53:42raptorreset
15:53:54raptoralthough kill/death ratio does not...
16:13:26Watusimotothat's a little different... maybe
16:13:31WatusimotoI was thinking reset too
