00:19:13raptorOK watusimoto1/ Watusimoto: here are the debian fonts, picture is 13 MB: http://sam6.25u.com/upload/4font-ttf.png
00:19:27raptormodern-vision is in that one for reference
00:20:10WatusimotoIs that the one you pasted earlier?
00:20:22Watusimoto(and hi)
00:20:28raptoryes, but wider to see all the text
00:20:46Watusimotoare all those fonts "legal"?
00:21:02raptoryes... at least, they are all from a debian testing system
00:21:17Watusimotook, that's probably good enough for the moment
00:21:26raptorhi
00:21:46Watusimotowhat I'd really like to see is just the fonts that we're considering (the list I posted earlier, plus a couple that kaen suggested)
00:21:57Watusimotobecause that list is just too much to be manageable
00:22:12raptorsure, i can do that... but all but 2 or 3 in that list you posted are here
00:22:18raptorlet me start editing the graphic
00:22:39WatusimotoI don't have the ones of kaen that I liked here, but one of them was KinKaid
00:22:59Watusimotothen we'll have a nice compact list from which to choose
00:23:07raptorok, let me get those... give me 5 minutes
00:23:18Watusimotono hurry
00:23:25raptor10 min. then :)
00:33:36raptorWatusimoto: http://sam6.25u.com/upload/1Untitled.png
00:33:52raptorthose are what i could find in debian from yours and kaen's list
00:37:14raptoroh wait, there's a few more from kaen... one moment
00:38:48Watusimotohmmm.... the simpleHull function isn't producing what I'd expect
00:38:58Watusimotoat least not on the test dataset I created
00:44:21raptorWatusimoto: updated list with some of kaen's + Play: http://sam6.25u.com/upload/2Untitled.png
00:44:40raptoralso, many of the geometric functions require a certain sanitization of input
00:46:15Watusimotothat font display is much more helpful!
00:47:15raptorunexplored galaxies is about the same size as modern-vision
00:47:55WatusimotoI don't really like any of them
00:48:05raptoryeah me neither... except modern-vision
00:48:13Watusimotoyes
00:48:16Watusimotoand play
00:48:21raptoryes, and Play
00:49:18Watusimotoso, we've picked well
00:49:38Watusimotodo you know if modern-vision is legal for debian?
00:51:04raptorit is not
00:51:10raptorit's the one we need to replace
00:51:25raptorit is licensed as CC-BY-SA-ND
00:51:27WatusimotoI know that
00:51:27raptoror something
00:51:33Watusimotoah, ok
00:51:42raptorwhat do you know?
00:51:47WatusimotoI was wondering if we could package it for debian, but it sounds like know
00:52:01raptorthe 'ND' part stands for 'non-debian' :)
00:52:02Watusimotolike no
00:52:04Watusimotoha
00:52:38Watusimotook, so let's do this: how about if MV is not available, we default back to play
00:52:45Watusimotoand we just exclude MV from the package
00:52:48raptorthat's what I was thinking
00:52:58raptorI was about to patch debian to do that
00:53:01Watusimotothis is such a pain
00:53:05raptorPAIN
00:53:12Watusimotoyes, you are bearing the brunt
00:53:39Watusimotodebian feels about as free as the soviet communist party was
00:53:46Watusimotoit's a worker's paradise
00:53:59raptorbut i've kept a good attitude, i think, and it has helped with the process - i was not expecting to get a review at all that quickly
00:54:02Watusimotofree free free
00:54:18Watusimotoyes, you've been very patient and polite! :-)
00:54:26raptorsoviet's paradise! all the gold you want, but stand in line for your daily ration of bread
00:54:50WatusimotoI've noticed that you and I have different things we can tolerate
00:54:56raptorheh, yes
00:55:02Watusimotoyou deal with debain, I'll deal with pygames
00:55:12Watusimotonot pygames
00:55:15Watusimotopyarc
00:55:18Watusimotowhatever
00:55:20raptoroh man... those guys... yeah, i hard time with them
00:55:26raptorit had to be a communication error
00:55:26Watusimotothose guys that really got to you
00:55:39raptori just could not grasp what they were trying to say
00:55:52WatusimotoI enjoyed our side-conversation :-)
00:55:55raptorhaha
00:56:04Watusimotooops... darrel is on this channel :-)
00:56:39Watusimotoso will the auto updater work on debian?
00:57:20raptorI had to remove it from the source to comply with debian's guidelines since it has windows-specific .dlls in there
00:57:45raptorthey have this idea of an 'orig' source tarball
00:58:13raptorand you add +dfsg to it if you had to modify the actual upstream tarball (which I did). dfsg == debian free software guidelines
00:58:31Watusimotowhy did I think we had an updater on linux? maybe I was thinking of the alerter
00:58:38raptoryou can see it here: https://mentors.debian.net/package/bitfighter
01:00:32raptoroh, the notifier... kaen and i decided to remove that, too, because the python almost doubled the complexity with getting it into debian
01:00:48raptor*python requirement
01:14:22Watusimotothe debian package will be impoverished
01:14:47raptoryes, but it will be sovi... debian!
01:31:09raptori think that after we get into debian, we can get bitfighter into any distro
01:37:21WatusimotoI think we already can!
01:37:34raptorI wonder if we can get into haiku
01:37:51raptormight be fun, as an exercise, to get bitfighter to run on an esoteric OS
01:38:15raptor... fun for me
02:03:53Watusimotoyes, and/or bsd
02:04:02Watusimotoman, this convex hull is making me crazy
02:08:33WatusimotoI should never have tried adding a test for 3rd party code
02:08:46Watusimotobecause now I don't know if the code is wrong, or if the test is wrong, and why
02:08:52Watusimoto(or why not)
02:08:53raptoreek
02:09:09raptormagic box
02:12:28WatusimotoI just plotted my test data in open office; the test is right
02:12:30Watusimotodang
02:12:55raptoris this still that rotation bug?
02:13:01Watusimotoyes
02:13:10Watusimotobut now I'm all off on this hull tangent
02:13:25raptorcomputational geometry always sucked me in...
02:15:46Watusimotothing is I don't really care, so I'm mostly taking a cut-paste approach
02:16:39raptori think i have one task left for debian, then I can submit for review again...
02:21:13raptorok, heading to bed... night!

13:49:45raptorgood day!
13:59:41raptorkaen: how did you get the lintian warning, no-upstream-changelog, to go away? I seem to recall you didn't have that issue, but I do
14:00:39raptorreference: https://lintian.debian.org/tags/no-upstream-changelog.html
14:01:00kaenI wrote one :)
14:01:06kaenfrom the release notes on the downloads page
14:01:30raptorha, ok. could you pastie me that? I assume it had to follow a very specific format...
14:02:43kaenI didn't follow any specific format, but here it is: http://pastie.org/9868973
14:02:43raptorjust whenever you have time...
14:02:49raptoroh hey, great
14:03:01raptorand did you have to reference that somewhere?
14:03:04kaenI didn't get any warnings once I put that in
14:03:15kaenno, I put it in CHANGELOG.txt and it was automatically picked up
14:03:25raptorin the debian/ directory, or the root directory?
14:03:29kaenroot
14:03:34raptoroh good
14:03:39raptorI will... slip that in :)
14:03:45raptorI'm almost ready for review again

14:35:17kaensure thing. sorry I've been MIA this week, I got another new client and my existing clients seem to have all caught fire at the same time

15:23:21kaen_mbpI mean that emergencies have been popping up. For example, last night someone deployed a debugging "print" statement in a hot path to production, which filled the 600GB logging volume overnight (usually has 60 day capacity) and caused logging over the entire cluster to fail
15:23:59kaen_mbpon monday another client introduced a race condition that caused the health check endpoint to fail in rare cases
15:24:12kaen_mbpwhich lead to nodes being randomly healthed out of the load balancer
15:25:13kaen_mbpultimately bringing down the site at 3AM, which lead to myself getting a delightful middle-of-the-night-everything-is-burning phone call and subsequent firefighting
15:26:36kaen_mbpI guess this is the universe balancing out my 10 hour work weeks for the last two months :P
