As amusing as wildest wests of all the wests western wests is, personally I am in favor of having more level contests in the future, and if a joke map wins it kind of undermines that.

Just my two cents.

Well.... I would like another contest. :D

Rude, much? Just yesterday we were discussing why some people disliked you. Refer to your text for a shining example of this.

Is it a tough topic? Sure. Does that make it a bad topic? Not necessarily. Instead of ragging on the contest for being challenging, try brainstorming for a few hours on how to make a good level that fits with theme. That's what several other level editors did, and at least a couple of good levels came out of this contest.

Wild West is almost everything bad. Alchahol, cigarettes, guns, idiots, etc.
That's what makes it the worst ever. It's not how it's going that makes it bad. It's the topic.

Re: WILD WEST Voting - Round 2

I like this contest.

Some of the levels were silly, yes, but many brought out some really fun designs and ideas.

If anything, these contests are great for getting new maps out and teaching people what makes (or doesn't make) a good level.

Thank you Quartz for taking the initiative and hosting this contest.

Pioneering spirit. Courage. Freedom. Sacrifice.

There is no good without bad. And not everything about the Wild West was glorified in movies.

This is definitely the most important part of hosting a contest, in my eyes.

Yeah, no problem. I will in the future as well I'm sure, though I'd love to share the load and have others do the same. This community may be small but it's active enough to have a contest once a month, easily. I sure as hell don't want to do all of them. Not even out of laziness, but really, knowing exactly who made all the maps, etc. etc. just takes out half of the fun. xD

Opinion strikes again!

No one is forcing you to participate. Talk is cheap. If you can do better, then you are encouraged to do so. It's disrespectful to dismiss the effort people put into this contest, regardless of your feelings on the theme.

Rudeness and negativity are conspicuously missing from your list of bad things. If you want respect for your own ideas, you must first show respect for the ideas of others.

JUST FORGETTING ABOUT THIS RIDICULOUS ARGUMENT WOULD MAKE EVERYTHING SO MUCH BETTER.

All i meant to say was that Wild West is a bad subject, and I THOUGHT it was the worst contest ever. I dont know for sure.

Re: WILD WEST Voting - Round 2

When you make your opinions known you run the risk of incurring rebuttals from those who feel differently. We're no more attacking you than you are complaining. Besides, your opinion wasn't "hey I thought this topic was a little negative, what do you think about topic X or topic Y for the next map contest?" You weren't constructive and you were arguably rather offensive.

But, as you've said a couple times now, you wish to drop the subject. So be it.

The "Wild West" were just the 1800s or so in the United States. Nothing bad. If you want some dark and "bad" stuff, check out the Middle Ages or the end of antiquity. Oh crap, NOW I'm good in history ._.

I am on Lamp's side. He just said that Wild West was the worst theme. And then apologized a few times. He didn't do anything wrong.
