Is this something we non-coders can work at? Someone will still have to plug it all in, obviously, but maybe if we did all the "figuring out" first it'd go easier.

No, probably not. Good idea, though!

Re: Editor improvements

Suggestion: improve grid in editor for easier measurements, especially when zoomed out. if i'm working at big map (suppose thirty by thirty) measuring becomes hard. perhaps a ruler tool would help

minor bug
placing neutral cores is tedious. i have to be in neutral before i switch game mode to core. if it worked right you'd go into core, select neutral team and place a neutral core.

orher people might just go into textedit. macintosh

Select the core and press 0. It will become neutral.

Re: Editor improvements

The real bugger is making hostile Cores, last time I checked it isn't strictly allowed, you have to be a little clever. =P

no, that's what the editor should be doing, but it doesn't actually do anything.

Reproduce the problem
Step 1: Open editor, select Core game mode while on a player team
Step 2: Place a core down
Step 3: Select the core and press 0.
Expected result: It will become neutral.
Actual result: team 0 is selected in the editor layout on the right, but the core itself is unaffected

Re: Editor improvements

Ah yes - it was actually a developer decision to not allow neutral/hostile Core in the editor. Do you remember why kaen, watusimoto? (I don't...)

Re: Editor improvements

Nope, and it doesn't make sense to me that this is the case. I mean, we ship a level with neutral cores in it. They seem pretty useful when applied judiciously.

Re: Editor improvements

Early version (bitfighter 017) had a problem in Core Game type where neutral/hostile Core causes the game to never end when all core are destroyed. Maybe another developer that works on editor more then me wanted to hide that problem by preventing neutral/hostile Core in the editor. Now, on version 018a, Neutral/Hostile core are now basically ignored for points and when game ends.

Is there any difference between a neutral and hostile core?

The only difference between hostile and neutral core is the color grey or white, nothing else is different.

Excuse me, I believe it's dark grey and light grey. GOSH, people these days.
