Score Clock

Hey this is amgine posting a idea I think would help improve BF, a score clock Here is how it would work.

1 After someone grabs a flag in the example being here CTF they have X second to score the point before the flag(s) returns to its starting point/ or are dropped : say 30 seconds

2. If you both flags are scored then they will sync to the same time so if someone has 26 seconds left and someone grabs the opponent's flag there will be 26 second for each to score. Or in some game modes clocks are auto synced.

3 The time amount can be adjusted per level.

4. This feature can be set to be on or off individually for each level.

4 If server owners want no score clock on any levels there server they can turn it off in the INI file

The reason I think this should be added to BF is On many game types and levels players will just score once or twice to gain the lead then camp with the flag(s) for the entire level this results in The matches being very boring Whereas if there was a score timer there would be more action in matches..... 8-)

This could also lead to a Time Trial Game type where you have to get a flag to a certain areas before the timer runs out. but thats for another thread maybe ;)

Re: Score Clock

Pretty cool actually. Toggle for each individual level might get confusing, but as a game mode it could be fun. Maybe "Rush CTF" or something similar.

The flag timer sync when both teams have flags is key - prevents players from waiting until the opponent's timer expires and quickly capping before their own timer expires.

What should happen if a flag is dropped? Will the timer keep ticking somehow?

Re: Score Clock

Re: Score Clock

One of my most favorite FPS games did it like this: The time a player holds a flag is infinite, but when it's dropped, it will auto reset in 30 seconds.

I think Bitfighter does this, but I can't recall.
if you're reading this, i'm sorry for how cringe my old posts are. i rarely play BF anymore, but if you ever want to find me, you can catch me on steam, or on discord @ muddy#7969

Re: Score Clock

Yes but this is a idea for when a flag is Being held by ships.

As For a TT mode who knows if it would be fun or not.

Re: Score Clock

I could see this eventually implemented along with some kind of "Hardcore" competitive feature. Once Bitfighter establishes a larger player base there may be an interest for more regulated, intense play. Think like clans or tournaments. And as such the Hardcore mode might do things like restrict weapon usage, commander map access, score clock, etc.

Please clarify this.

Do you mean, bot-only spawns? Or something else?

You've played my map Search and Destroy right? That's what Little_Apple (thank you sir) and I are talking about. Being able to specify the amount of "lives" a player has in a match.

I made a whole thread about it if you want me to unearth it. About having a competitive game mode with limited spawns, spectator mode (for when you are out of lives) [which I realize would take a LOT of reworking, because things are hardcoded, so spectator mode is a stretch], and a round-based system, so you could play, say, best 3/5 on the same map.

Re: Score Clock

I would be so down for a competitive mode. Just to compile ideas:

    • Limited spawns ("lives")
    • Round-based toggle (tracks score over multiple rounds)
    • Restricted weapon usage (ie. disables/limits mines)
    • Score clock (x seconds to cap flag before it's returned)
I didn't include spectator mode because I think that's a feature important for the entire game. It'd be nice to have for hardcore mode but it'd be nice to have in general too.

We're getting off-topic here so new thread maybe?

Re: Score Clock

yeah create a new thread 8-)

I think a score clock feature would be interesting to at least test and see if it works.
