I do it all the time to test dungeons and crap. I've never had any issues.

YoshiSmb isn't complaining that it doesn't work, he's complaining that it makes things less fun.

I don't think it makes things less fun... You can only control one dude as it is. Its not really viable competitively or in general.

I can actually control other players with my mind, so your argument is invalid.

(I looked at master logs.)

In this "Scout" case, that name and one other repeated names all has the same IP address, all has the same joystick, and I am guessing this is all coming from one computer.

I can see why "Scout" has problems, his internet connection or his computer was overloaded with too many clients.

True for keyboard, but false for joystick users, joysticks could move all of your client's ships at the same time, and navigate through menus at the same time.

That would make it difficult for two people to play from the same house, school, or other network.

Multiple clients can be useful for testing, too

As watusimoto said, joysticks still work. I did a 4-player split-screen joystick bitfighter party on our 48" TV, it was awesome.

Example, me and kaia - or you and BB.

Re: Dont Run Bitfighter Multiples times.

maybe make it so only players that have been registered can join with the same ip. with the exception of a server being hosted on the same network in the case of a LAN party. this way, a random player cant just join someone's server and spam it with multiple clients. or at least, make it much harder to.

how does this sound?

Re: Dont Run Bitfighter Multiples times.

...Why is this even an issue, again?

We can't keep adding more and more and more rules and exceptions and rules and exceptions to the game based on isolated instances. It makes the code a mess and takes way more time than its worth. Its not like controlling multiple ships at once is viable.

bobdaduck, rationality and well-balanced estimation of significance are absolutely unwelcome here. We're trying to address the very serious issue of eight-armed hindu gods being able to cheat at Bitfighter.

On Windows and Linux you can open as many copies as you want by clicking on the launch icon. It helps if you aren't in full screen mode.
