What are some things that would make Bitfighter more fun to play alone?
Re: What would make Bitfighter more fun for solo players?
Progression-style levels with tasks that differ from the multiplayer objectives. Perhaps an entirely new "Single-Player" gamemode that had specific items only available for mapmakers when making a single player map. Bots that did different tasks (besides just trying to kill you and steal your stuff) and were skillfully implemented into the level. BotSpawns would help a lot with this. Speech bubbles. Dungeons that utilized game mechanics instead of took advantage of bugs or glitches, and that got progressively more difficult (e.g. Different levels of a series, Dungeon 1-1, Dungeon 1-2, ect.). Some sort of Bitfighter Campaign with a backstory, characters, and mission objectives. Really get into the whole "spaceship" theme instead of just a random shoot-em-up that happens to take place in two-dimensional space.

In other words, take out everything that makes bitfighter bitfighter, and turn it into an RPG.
No seriously, bitfighter is a LAN party game. It was always meant to be a LAN party game. Our focus should always be on trying to emphasize our strengths, not play to what we're not.

I cant think of much for single player. Just add more enemies to shoot at, Different enemies with distinct looks, distinct from the Ship.
This is the Ship
(I question why the Ship is the only fighting entity in the game)
I like the multiplayer part of the game as much as the next guy, but at the moment every time I login there is one player playing a game at best. The only reason I login is to blow people up.
In other words, to improve the experience in Single Player, more enemies must be added which I can then blow up.

Play my new level! Two different teams fight over a nexus: One mainly defends while the other attacks! is fun

Bots with different personalities or skillsets etc is a must-have in my opinion. I think above any singleplayer mission mode or whatever, there needs to be different "flavors" of bots that can give the game variety. I would be so down to play this game more when no one else is online if I could play against a mix of challenging and easy bots that used different weapons and modules.

Well said, although my stance isn't quite as extreme as yours' -- I agree with Skybax that Dungeons have a place in the single player realm. I would argue they have already shifted to being based on skill-based feats rather than exploits, because most exploits have been fixed.
I believe the concept of making a dungeon gametype or some such which added some extra objects has been brought up many times. I'd like to see that happen.
That said, you don't see me complaining too much about the lack of progress there, because as bobdaduck stated, this is a LAN party game sort of deal. Dungeons are fun once in a while as a distraction and indeed, when you are alone they can provide for some entertainment.

More varied enemies + mass waves of enemies.
More hazards ala asteroids. The missile bases from Missile command would be quite dangerous.
