Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
Oh! It was my last school year. In my computer class, ZAP! was downloaded onto all the computers. My computer teacher told me that it was available (which was not true at the time). I decided to do a little bit of searching since I loved the game. Then, pop! I got some results and ended up on Bitfighter.

Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
La and me played the Zap! demo, until they killed it. However when it died, there was one server (or something like that) saying to go to bitfighter.org or whatever. However when we downloaded it, nobody really was on. So we got bored and didn't play it for quite a while. I'm not sure why we started playing it again, but here we are.

Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
Couple years ago (like.. 5 or 6?) when I was still immature I was playing tank games on garagegames (think tanks at the time). Bought the game then saw Z.A.P.! as another game by garagegames so I tried that. That's how I'm here, I never played Think-Tanks since and occasionally go on zap.

I've played the demo for think tanks! However it is a bit lame and bleh now that I remember it.

Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
i really don't remember. All I remember is a long while later, meeting sky, who told me about a new active forum, at http://z6.invisionfree.com/zap_forums
with its small category for bitfighter.
Testing bitfighter in the very first builds was fun, especially with all that was going on.
Later i left zap for a while, and upon coming back, found no community server around, zap_fourms was locked, and i found a new home here:
bitfighter.org/forums

Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
I used to play Z.A.P on my computer because it came on a disk called "mega game pac" that I got in the mail. A couple years later I was looking for free games for mac when I found a game that looked familiar. Then it hit me! It was Z.A.P! So of course I downloaded it and went by the name "Optimusc2000" until I changed it after people started calling me "Opti". But hey! If that disk didn't come in my mail box I would not be here!
i got a rattlesnake gun.

Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
Well! Where do I begin to describe my epic journey of finding bitfighter?
Well it all started back in 1991. The godawful year someone decided to give birth to me (my mother). And so I began my epic quest on life.
Many years went by as I scowered the land for lost booty, eh, video games. And so back in a year I cannot remember, I began playing Age of Empires, yes the original, not #2 or #3, but #1. I played for a few years, and so I also moved onto Age of Empires Rise of Rome, then that scene died and that was that, so a bunch of years later an open source clone called "0.A.D" came out.
And Alas! I began playing that, with the booty so precious and fine, it had awesome graphics etc. So I setup the OBS repository for my operating system to grab precompiled packages already for me.
But after a while, I decided to checkout what else was in this repository, and so my journey was coming to a close, as I open the very cracks of the web repository, as much scattered bits of old timber fell off it as I opened it, with all the dust and spider webs inside, as a little spider ran across the room wall..
I found a package called "bitfighter-0<number>.x86_64.rpm" I thought, now what the heck is that, so I downloaded, and installed it, and I tried it, and so my epic journey came to a close, as I now began playing bitfighter. It was a long journey, with many quests and booty along the way, but I am here now, your second most annoying member
(Opti beats me as most annoying though I'd say..)
The End!
PS: I can't believe you just read all of that...

Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
I first started looking for some free to play games, and found instantaction.com which had ZAP on it. Now that instant action is dead, I started searching for ZAP game or similar, then found wikipedia about Garage Games and ZAP, that said bitfighter is based on ZAP.
Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
My story is eerily similar to random's, except it took place about a year earlier.
In my manufacturing class, there was a game called "zap!" installed on all the computers (put there by Unknown). I played it, and I liked it so much I wanted more, so I searched "zap remake" in google (I dunno why, I just hoped there was a remake, which was good because there was
) it took me to the zap! Wikipedia page, which had a link to bitfighter.

Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
How I found BitFighter? It took me a while to find the new old forums after the old old forums had closed. Pretty much all I did was transition from Zap! to BitFighter.

Same, except someone told me what replaced Zap. The credits in zap look better than the one in Bitfighter.

How Did I discovered it?
i was bored
1 or 2 weeks after zap crashed, i paid the $$$ for the full weapons etc...
it crashed then, it was really a shame since i paid 4 it.
thin InstantAction saved the day cause i was redirected from http://zapthegame.com/ to instantaction
then instant action crashed too (DDDDDDDD= zap crashed 2 times :'( )
then googled "Zap Garage Games" to see if they had plans of putting it back
i wennt to the wiki
in the ZAP section it said:
I was like OH MAH HAWD A MIRACLE
then i saw bitfighter had better everything

and like all the quotes below, 1/5 people care about this

Released in March 2008, Z.A.P., also known as Zero All Productivity... blah blah blah
Based on its free source predecessor: Zap! (also released by Garage Games).
Another freesource spin off, Bitfighter, was also released by independent developer Chris Eykamp in 2007

I search up zap because I was bored and found zap. (I was curious if a game was called zap) Then later on I figured out about bitfighter.

Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
Discovered Zap ages ago (what, 6-7 years) when I was looking for games that I could actually play on my Mac. (Things were even more bleak for Mac back then haha)
I was hooked pretty fast. Awesome game, really enjoyable community at the time too.

Re: How did YOU discover Bitfighter?
Lol allot of people had Zap! installed on the computers at their schools! I found Zap! when my brother (me.rs) was playing years ago. Then I started playing after the master server was shut down. I was playing LAN with my brother (lol). Then YEARS later (January 2011), I search Zap! on Google and came across Bitfighter! For the record I still have Zap on my computers.

bobdaduck: uh, it likes you.
