Bitfighter on Desura

Some of you may have noticed a large number of new players over the past few days. This is the result of Bitfighter being launched on the Desura platform. Desura is a bit like Steam, but with a mix of both open source and commercial content.

If you have a Desura account, please give us a good review. The link to our page is:

http://www.desura.com/games/bitfighter

Thanks!

PS New users need to wait a week after registration to give a game a better score than an 8. Since our average rating is currently better than that, if you want to rate it, please wait!

I made an account but I couldn't put a 10/10, so I put an 8/10.

An 8 reduces our average rating... (though does somewhat counteract our single low rating).

You totally can put a 10/10, you just need to add a review. Rate it however you honestly feel, but as wat said an 8 hurts us more than helps us.

Re: Bitfighter on Desura

The problem with Steam isn't the $100. If we could get Bitfighter on Steam, to where it would likely receive a massive audience boost, I'm pretty sure we could collectively chip in $100.

The problem is that Steam's model requires games to have some kind of revenue option. Even Steam's free games have in-game shops where you can purchase items with real money. Bitfighter doesn't have any items of that sort, so it wouldn't really work. I suppose we could implement some weak cosmetic items just for getting onto Steam, but why bother when we can focus on putting Bitfighter onto less restrictive platforms like Desura?

Seriously? I JUST explained this. You could have found your answer by scrolling up like three posts.

Simply put, Steam and Bitfighter are not going to happen unless we market Bitfighter, which I'm pretty sure isn't going to happen either.

That's not quite what I meant (although a bitfighter t-shirt would be sweet). I meant marketing via introducing in-game digital items.

In the spirit of the contest, for only 20 USD, you could have a giant ten-gallon hat for your bitfighter ship.

We just need to become TF2 where everyone has hats all over the place.

(The rough BF alternate to this would be ship shapes.)
