sam686 server

My "Bitfighter sam686" server is using a less restrictive features including allowing anyone to change levels, level uploads, and allows "/getmap". There are many levels in this server, and changes to random levels after game ended. Robots are automatically in the server when level changes, only when there is one or zero players. There is voting for changing level or changing teams or changing time limit and score.

Based on Game Reports, over the last 30 days (August 10 to September 9, 2011), 64% (2001 / 3133) of all games was on "Bitfighter sam686" server. This looks like many players play this server more then any other servers.

My "Bitfighter sam686" may be using a non-release or modified version, but you may see my changes for my version 015a here.

I did hear a few complaints, including _k often hates voting. But, this looks like I have done something that appears to attracts many other players to my server. Any questions about my server?

Re: sam686 server

I'm pretty sure it's because the younger players like being able to upload their own levels and play dungeons...and then people join whatever server has people on it.

Re: sam686 server

The things that noobs like in the game have never been conducive to good gameplay.

Engineer, cheats, dungeons, and the dozens of other things they get all fangirl about, are all on your server.

Re: sam686 server

As of right now, Bitfighter sam686 is running on the same servers as <gibbed> and what used to be BitfighterMain(); server, a clone of Bitfighter sam686.

Umm, no offence little apple, but last I looked you were a "younger player" :P. And no one thinks bad of you because you do like those things. Its just that some people want to play without things like dungeons, cheats and engineer.
The bottom statement is false.
The top statement is true.

Re: sam686 server

So sam686,

Maybe you could do a thread similar to 'kserv status' and enumerate the modifications you have so people know (and don't want to read the changesets...) Also, it might be good to say something about being experimental in nature in the server description when highlighting it in the game lobby.

This way people know they are getting a slightly different experience than the stock bitfighter code.
