Lyrics
Hopefully I'll be getting a band together this coming college year. My Dungeons & Dragons buddies (some of which will be roommates) all play different instruments and it's actually a completely viable dynamic. In the meantime, I've been writing lyrics. I like opinions, critical or not.
Here's one to kick it off.
The Hollow Man
Verse 1:
I could let this tear me down
I could very well be torn asunder
Or I could grow and be made stronger
For it is now, of this very moment, decided.
I will not let the demon of doubt plunder
What little hope remains in this
Hurt little heart of mine
I must not be meek, I must not be weak.
I must rise from these ashes and be made anew
Verse 2:
I have seen time and time again
The way this can destroy a man
When there is nothing to gain
And nothing to lose, one may choose
To be utterly destroyed
I guess that could seem comfortable
For only then would the interior decorating
Match the exterior in spirit and style
So be it, if I must walk alone down the aisle
Chorus:
I simply cannot afford to become
Hollow. Empty. Devoid of life and love.
These are the things for which I pray to the skies above
That I may not become a victim, that I may be strong
That I may love again, and not become the hollow man
Bridge:
What a sorry, pathetic creature you are.
Your jealous and wrathful form is funny to me now
And while these feelings are new and bizarre
My heart knows they're right, that I must take this vow
The cruel shadow of doubt invades me
Insinuating that this change within is only temporary
I can only scoff and keep my stride
That these stupid shadows may be proven wrong, in due time.
In due time. I must be patient.
Like a sickly monk, being nursed back to health
I repeat this to myself.
In due time. I must be patient.
Time and time again I have fallen short
So He dropped me upside down, that He may be my resort
What a clever man He is, I rather like His style
