Quartz' Rock Solid Maps

See what I did there?

This is my second collection of "solid" maps, meaning they are not novelties, and they aren't crap. I make plenty of other maps that aren't good enough to warrant placement in this collection.

Here 28 more quality maps to populate your server.

Please do not edit my maps. If you really want to, talk to me about it first. It's not exactly tough to get ahold of me.

I hope you all enjoy. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc. feel free to post them here.

Re: Quartz' Rock Solid Maps

Always fun to try new maps from you, quartzy! Wanted to chime in with some reactions:

  • Bag of Cats - Actually one of my favorite medium-sized Nexus maps, plays really well.
  • ROTATING FANS OF DEATH - love it haha
  • Gate - DAT ART
  • Open Season - Definitely want to try this one with a large group.
  • LMOA! - Oooh, neat concept. Would also be fun to try with numbers. What's with the name, though? Kinda underwhelming for such a cool map.
  • Bot - Interesting design, not thrilled about the bottleneck/forced path in the middle but I like the teleporter paths.
  • Snow Castles - lol "rock solid"
  • Pixel Stream - Weird as hell but it actually plays pretty decently.
  • Aztec - Looks cool, is there a reason why you blocked off the middle? Two potential paths in between the three art components. Design constraints or personal choice?
  • Balls to the Walls - Final score: 0-0
  • Cinnarena - Neat use of levelgen. Didn't even know that was possible.
  • Bubblegum Wars 2 - Loved the original and this one looks great too. Awesome work.
  • Battle of the Banana - Was this one of your 3am creations? ;)
  • Time Keeper - Y u no make more zone controls? It's a little big for my tastes, but I think you and zone control would make a great couple. (for science!)

Favorites: Bag of Cats, Rotating Fans, LMOA, Bubblegum Wars 2

Yeah, this is one of my maps that I wasn't terribly inspired with, just looking to create a map with great gameplay. Similar to Rack City in that regard.
sky_lark wrote:ROTATING FANS OF DEATH - love it haha

Those one is somehow even stupider than Snow Castles imo. :P
sky_lark wrote:Open Season - Definitely want to try this one with a large group.

We played it in the last BBB, it played pretty well.
sky_lark wrote:LMOA! - Oooh, neat concept. Would also be fun to try with numbers. What's with the name, though? Kinda underwhelming for such a cool map.

Trust me the original name was even worse. I don't really remember why I even named it that though. Obviously I was amused by a typo.
sky_lark wrote:Snow Castles - lol "rock solid"

ahahaha yeah I might throw this out of the pack at some point.
sky_lark wrote:Aztec - Looks cool, is there a reason why you blocked off the middle? Two potential paths in between the three art components. Design constraints or personal choice?

Personal choice, although I'd consider changing it. Not a bad idea sky.
sky_lark wrote:Balls to the Walls - Final score: 0-0

Hey, I warned you. You *have* to goes balls out to win. xP

Preeeeetty much.

I very rarely get inspired to do Zone Controls, that's really all there is to it. Thanks for the feedback.
