Nobody plays Bitfighter *sniff*

Where are all the players?
All I've seen are two servers that are always up but also always empty. :-(

Isn't there some kind of organized meeting? Regular playing sessions or something like that? It doesn't have to be a big tournament, "just-for-fun" games would be also cool.
All I have found so far is BBB IX, and that's a month ago, without any future plans iirc.

Only today as I played around with the gamepad configuration, one dev (can't recall his/her name) walked in for a quick bitmatch. And that was it. :-(

Forever alone

It was me again... I joined briefly to get clobbered by you :)

We do have a small community with events every couple of months or so. The other developers and myself have been working to get the next version of Bitfighter (018) out. We plan on doing another level design contest afterward.

There are also random groups that sign on and play LAN games off and on throughout the week, usually you can sneak into their servers...

Re: Nobody plays Bitfighter *sniff*

One technique is just to log on and sit there for a while. A huge part of it is other people logging on and being like "oh no one is on" and then closing. If you sit on the server and alt tab, someone is likely to see it eventually. You'll hear noises when they join and stuff, so.

I haven't played nearly as much lately. Community is always trying to figure out ways to make the game grow but haven't met much success.

Compare "Total" games played since Febuary 2011. http://bitfighter.org/stats/stats.php?o ... lltime=yes

I played Bitfighter quite a lot in a past 20 months.

True, I am also mostly busy Monday to Friday, but almost always available near midnight, that is if I don't fall asleep too early as it happened to me a few times.

Okay, you said there is some sort of events "every couple of months or so". Which events do you mean and where do I find such events? I coudln't find any event which is currently planned. :-(

And aren't there some sort of more-frequent meetings which are not just random encounters?
As this is a small community, I can't imagine that you manage to play some bigger games just by random encounters. I still believe there must be some simple sort of organization.

Do you have something better to suggest than "just [Alt]+[Tab] and wait"?

Re: Nobody plays Bitfighter *sniff*

We used to have a long-time player (karamazovapy) who was a community organizer and would schedule most of the events. He sadly hasn't been around since March.

The developers are mostly busy programming instead of doing community things right now since we are close to releasing a new version. But since it is an open source project - we don't have time-lines..

We're usually idling on IRC if you ever want to say hello.

Advertising isn't the only problem. Getting players like you to continue playing Bitfighter is another problem. I know some people who almost don't plays Bitfighter game at all, yet very active on Bitfighter forum. Player statistics can help prove that.

That statistic would look drastically different if there was an iOS version of bitfighter.
