15:30:08raptorsadly, i don't have the RAM to run OSX + Windows 7 simultaneously
15:30:22raptor.. on top of my host Linux

17:41:50watusimotoI think we decided github would provide better exposure
17:42:40watusimotoI struggled for over a week to fix a stupid memory error

19:39:53watusimotolucky you!
19:41:05watusimotoI was chipping away at that memory issue; I had to build out the testing framework a little to get there... simulating testing a game from the editor, which required me to feed keys to the UI to get the transitions to occur "naturally"
19:41:28watusimotobut now we can test UI things much easier

20:12:08empyreanCool game! Reminds me of SubSpace :)
20:15:13watusimotohi empyrean -- we're better :-)
20:17:12empyreanNo doubt!
20:17:59watusimotowell, glad you like the game
20:19:24empyreanI'm trying to compile it from source, but when I run it I get Failure (1) loading sound file '/usr/share/bitfighter/sfx/phaser.wav': Game will proceed without sound.
20:19:45watusimotolinux?
20:19:48empyreanYes
20:19:57watusimotothe problem is likely that you need to copy the resources
20:20:11empyreanahh I see
20:20:23watusimotoare you following along with the wiki instructions?
20:20:44empyreanI assumed it would load it from my relative path (in the exe directory). I'll try recompiling.
20:21:33watusimotoyou shouldn't need to recompile for that
20:21:44watusimotojust copy the resources and the program will find them at runtime
20:23:01watusimotoIt's been a while since I built on linux (I work mostly on windows), but I think the idea is to get the resources out of the "program" space and into the "user space" where people can more safely tinker with them

20:25:19amgine123new ?
20:25:36amgine123Ive been busy but im back :)
20:26:33watusimotoI have a new game object that needs some testing
20:26:40watusimotomostly to see if it is not lame
20:26:53watusimotobut I need to fix a couple of crashing bugs first
20:27:05watusimotoso nothing right yet
20:28:46amgine123ok
20:28:56amgine123I had a idea and ill bring it up again as it owuldnt be hard
20:29:02watusimotobut soon, I hope
20:29:23amgine123Is a bumper bascily its a 360 degree speed boost polygon running into it pushes ships around
20:29:47amgine123Raptor isnt for It But I think it could work well in bitfighter
20:30:23watusimotook, interesting idea
20:30:23amgine123Might be a little hard to program though
20:30:29watusimotonot too hard
20:31:04amgine123It will probably jsut remain in the pile of deleted secrets though like slip zones XD
20:31:45amgine123I wrote a forumla for a exp system in Bitfighter and what various games exp output is.
20:32:33amgine123I think it would work ok but my graphing calculator broke and Im not wasting money buying one >.>
20:44:59raptor Quit (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
20:45:29watusimotothere are online graphing calculators that would probably work, or OpenOffice or whatever
20:45:34watusimotoanyway.... got to go
20:45:38watusimotobe on later
20:46:14watusimoto Quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
20:48:26empyreanGot it to compile and run without errors, but it locks up telling me I have an outdated version. If I pull from the latest from the repo will I have the same problem, or do I have to set of CFLAG or something?
20:54:40amgine123they bolth left >.>
20:58:36empyreanamgine: try FooPlot (http://www.fooplot.com/) if you need a graphing calc

21:45:08raptorhi empyrean, i'm the linux maintainer, need help with anything?
21:50:28empyreanNope, I got it to compile and run! Thanks for the offer :) I do have a question though. Where is the bulk of the rendering code located?
21:56:49raptorempyrean: are you at revision 019d, or latest from our repo?
21:57:26empyreanI'm at revision019d, but I seem to have found it: gameObjectRender.cpp?
21:57:50raptoryes, that's it!
21:58:22raptorsadly we're all still opengl 1.0, but in trunk we've begun refactoring to use GLES 2
21:58:55empyreanI also noticed build directories for Android/IOS, are you planning a release for those platforms?
21:59:07amgine123hey raptor question
21:59:33amgine123im being stupid I was on it before I cant seem to see it now where is teh thread for kaens stardust plugin video
21:59:34raptorandroid was a concept project - it compiled and ran once, but didn't really work because there was no touch interface for the UI
21:59:58raptorthat was a while ago - we need some developers who know iOS/Android UI
22:00:08raptorand we probably need to finish GLES 2 port first
22:00:26raptoramgine123: use the forum search
22:00:31raptori don't know off the top of my head
22:00:47amgine123http://www.bitfighter.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2566 needs to be moved to the plugin section methinks
22:02:07amgine123Raptor btw What do you think of a "bumper" item it would be a polygon ( or barrier) that would rebound ships and other items that fly into it
22:02:18raptorsoccer ball
22:03:02empyreanHrm, I've always wanted to learn about mobile development and I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment :)
22:05:45amgine123soccer balls dont rebound im saying say if you flew into the object you would rebound of of it relitive to the force and angle you hit it at.
22:06:13amgine123so say you flew into a wall you would get rebounded off of it like you hit a low value speed zone.
22:15:56raptori'm not sure what i think
22:16:29raptori've done little with computer for 2 weeks, much less with bitfighter - i think i have to relearn what this game actually is...
22:22:17amgine123I still say we should put bitfighter on steam :)(:
22:31:13empyreanlol amgine
22:31:23empyreanI suck at this
22:33:07amgine123??
22:33:18amgine123play some more :)
22:33:52empyreanNah, I'm going to bed soon. I'll probably be online tomorrow for a bit :)
22:34:51amgine123ok :)
